- INTERVIEW QUESTION: Describe a time you had to display understanding and compassion to a friend/coworker who was telling you about a personal/sensitive situation. What did you do to help them through the situation and make them feel like you truly cared?
MY ANSWER: Fortunately I'm a saved Christian, my understanding and compassion comes directly from God and flow out of me accordingly. When someone is telling me about a personal/sensitive situation I listen to what they are saying, without condoning or condemning the decisions that they made during their situation or how they might have been affected because of the situation. If advice or action is needed or requested, I try not to lean on my own understanding and instead follow rules and regulation. Praise God this works wonderfully every time because the person does not feel condemned and necessary actions are taken by me coming along side the person with gentle support, guidance, direction and compassion so the person does not feel alone, isolated or attacked.
