Yes I believe so, unless you feel that God is pulling you back to her. For instance, you forgive and you forget, but then you start getting a feeling that maybe she's not saved, maybe she needs God in her life, maybe somebody should tell her about Him... Yup, that's God pulling you.

do not despise your mother when she is old
honour thy father and thy mother
you can choose your friends but not your relatives

IF you forgive her you will continue to be civil to her

I had a situation where i had to choose between my wife and my mother,i chose my wife instead,i later forgave my mother but was only civil to her until she later divorced her husband(He molested my niece) now not only do i have her back she loves my wife & mother in law

Its such a hard thing to do when your parents have treated you in ways that are harmful. I still have to pray almost every single day for God to help me forgive my parents. In addition my parents are still very toxic and nasty and controlling. So to be around them even now is not healthy.

I do give them as much respect as I possibly can. I try to talk to them a few times a year. But I can not stay around them for any length of time or I become very upset and confused.

However, forgiveness is an act in progress for me where my parents are concerned. So I am not sure if that helps or not.

I am struggling with this same situation but it's both my parents..It's a very intense situation.

Sure why not. when someone makes me angry I can get over it, but that does not mean I have to be their best friend. Maybe try to build the relationship back up slowly. Sometimes it just takes time.

i had to make a choice between my mother and my wife. well my wife won because i left my mom to be with my wife. i didnt have a close relationship with my mom till two years ago when her husband tried to molest my niece . eventualy we got back to being more of a family since she divorced him

i very much think its ok for u to forgive her and not really want to have a relationship with her...
