The ash cloud is spreading both Eastward and Westward so that it now is approaching the coast of North America.

That ash cloud likely contains silica dust, which can cause numerous health issues upon contact and death after longterm exposure. This risk is similar to that of nuclear fallout.

I'm expecting the DHS to issue recommendations again that we stock up on duct tape and plastic sheeting.

Are any of you preparing for this? I'm on the West Coast, so this is one I think I'll be able to observe and evaluate as it develops.
