I just read that December 31st 2012 is the deadline for Israel.
They are being asked to agree to a Quartet plan/peace treaty.
The Quartet is made up of the United States, the European Union, Russia, and the United Nations. George W. Bush's "Road Map for Peace," proposed in 2003, formulated the Quartet as a device to judge progress between Israel and Palestine along a road map toward peace.
Israel and Palestine must agree on a time-frame for an agreement no later than December 31, 2012. "The Quartet expects the parties to come forward with comprehensive proposals within three months on territory and security, and to have made substantial progress within six months. To that end, the Quartet will convene an international conference in Moscow, in consultation with the parties, at the appropriate time," the proposal says.
The Quartet reiterated its commitment to active involvement in the peace process.

The world isn't ending in 2012, but once this peace treaty/agreement is signed (before the end of this year) the clock will start ticking, as the 7 year tribulation then begins.
