Well, you have made some seriously damaging choices....don't make excuses....millions of people have kidney surgery, back surgery and head surgery....& they choose not to get themselves dependent on drugs. You need to look forward into the light, not dwelling on the past & the dark. Godmisma God of light! Accepting full responsibility is important because if you do not, how can you be repentant of your sins and be set free? The good news? It is is never too late to turn your life around with Jesus!!
You love God? And He loves you :) What a wonderful place to begin your journey of healing & restoration, it will not be easy I am sure but, well worth it! I would suggest you find out what drug rehab programs are available in your area, a Christian one would be even better! Committing to a church may be part of that rehab, or not. A church is important, it provides a place for us to thank and worship God, hold us accountable, have fellowship, learn the Word and develop as a Christian, learning patience, understanding, humbleness & generosity etc. So it's a good thing to be in a Church, especially one that through showing 'Jeus in action' will wrap you in its arms right now and walk with you through this. Finally, you can never, ever be good enough for Jesus and you can never earn your forgiveness. You and I are just the same on that and thank God for it! Sin is sin. Repent, repent of your sin and turn away from it. Pray, get yourself under Gods authority, accept His Sons sacrifice & blood shed on the cross for you and that you do not deserve it! BUT it is a free gift for you, precious you. Isn't it amazing? You who God loves so very , very much and wants to see healed and restored. Its the only way. Read the Bible. Live it, love it and fully rely on God to get you through. Exciting!! Your new life awaits and He will never leave or forsake you. God Bless you, <><

Hi, tonynos.

Just a few observations--

there's a difference between physiological dependence and psychological dependence.
in the first, the body has grown accustomed to the opioids, and will have an unpleasant reaction to their withdrawal.
in the second, you have the first going in addition to the fact it's become a way of life, and maybe you're using not just for pain relief but for the high?

kicking narcotics is tough. I speak from experience. I was prescribed narcotic pain meds for years. never experienced a high...just pain relief. and then one day I decided I had just had enough of putting those chemicals in my system every day.
I had the support of my family and my doc and my God, so I went for it.
and God was faithful, and saw me through it. :)

your situation is different. I recommend some sort of program, preferably a Christian one, as getting though that without the Lord I cannot imagine! you'll need the social help and support of others who have gone through the same things you'll be facing...the physical symptoms, and the mind's "need" for the drugs.

you'll also probably need the help from medical professionals who can manage your care during the days of withdrawal.

I understand treatment options can be r-e-a-l-l-y expensive, and without a job or insurance this will be hard.
but there are places like AA for opioid dependency, like nar-anon. they can and will help you! but ultimately, it's up to you. you have to want it enough to do the hard work of going through the program.

basically...it won't be easy, but it IS doable.
find a church, and commit. they will help you, too.
the distance between you and the Lord is easily crossed. draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. ♥

I will pray for you.

I know that it's hard for you. You already know your problem. You could go for professional Help. Meet a Counselor or Caseworker and see if you can work on it with His/Her help. Drugs is a serious problem. Please approach professionals of good repute to help you both physically and psychologically. Pray to Jesus for nothing is impossible for Him. Hate helps here. Hate drugs because it will tear you down. Hating drugs and praying to God for freedom from addiction is one way you can help yourself. Please do get help though.

There are de addiction centers you could approach. Wish you all the best for your recovery.

THanks Ellie for your story and the testimony that.... JESUS can and Will Set you FREE!

I was going to reccomend Nar-onon or AA too. I wish you all the best.

From a former addict,

It's hard to feel connected to God, let alone anything, when you've got all that "medicine" floating around in your body and clouding your mind and judgement. I, too, became addicted to prescription pain pills in the same fashion. I've been there, I understand, I am also sober now for almost 5 years.

First thing first, Recognize that you are addicted. You've asked for help, those are the first steps.

You need to seek help with the detox process. Of course, you could do this at home, but it can be painful, stressful, and it's better (in my opinion) to do this a place specialized for this, a detox center.

Then, everyday, minute by minute, you have to decide to stay away from them. Find a support group. Get your friends and family involved, anyone who is not helping or is holding you back, needs to be gone for a while. Pray, Pray, Pray.

I will be praying for you. I know how stressful and uncomfortable a process this can be. I've done it. Twice. But friend, YOU CAN DO THIS, if you really want it.
