GOOD WORKS ARE A RESULT OF THE PROCESS OF DISCIPLESHIP - SANCTIFICATION !!!!!!
in which believers are predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son (Rom 8:29).

Justification is by grace through faith alone (Eph 2:8),

James disagrees with Paul's binding apostolic word of God, to write;
You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone (Jas 2:24).

I don't believe it is a matter of justification before God; IOW, in the example given regarding Abraham, his offering up of Isaac was MANY YEARS AFTER his "Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." (And Abraham was called "the friend of God" by other men, per 2Chron20:7).

Also, you may be aware of the debate amongst scholars about just how much is James' quoting of the "questioner/interloper" (whether only v.18 or both vv.18 and 19 [etc])... so some point out that James himself is supplying that info by his use of an "INCLU SIO" (<--had to spell it this way due to automatic spell-check [or whatever] continually 'correcting' it to some other word I do not intend! LOL)

He (Abraham) believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness (Ge 15:6).

God tested Abraham in Chapter 22.

James denies that, by saying that works are required for justification (Jas 2:24) and appealing to your understanding "You see"
