Yes, that is exactly what Devolution is saying. I do not believe that VW would agree with him and I do not think that VW is abandoning Biblical truth. What VW emphasizes to my understanding is the knowledge without faith in God is no salvation at all. That our faith is a relational faith and that some neglect their relationship with God and try to substitute learning for that relationship. He emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit in understanding scripture and in understanding one's personal calling in Christ. He believes that any true guidance from the Holy Spirit would not be against the word of God. He is not the heretic that some think that he is.
