In deliverance the topic of generational or ancestral curses comes up frequently. Yet many Christians disbelieve that generational curses are valid. It might interest you to know that Jesus was under a generational curse.

The prophet Nathan, while under the influence of the Holy Spirit, confronted King David about two sins, murder and adultery. Nathan said: "Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife."

The bible records how this curse affected the house of King David. Amnon became the first victim of this curse. He was the oldest son of David. Absalom, the son of David died from this curse when an Joab pierced him in the heart with three spears as he hung on a tree.

"Cursed is anyone who hangs on a tree".

Jesus was a descendant of King David and clearly this generational curse fell on Jesus as well. Notice how close Absalom's death is to Christ who also died on a tree being pierced in three places, hands, feet and heart. Jesus was cursed but it was ultimately for our benefit.


We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him... Romans 8:28
