I had the opposite problem. I begged my parents to let me join the air force and they wouldn't let me. I'd probably be the captain of a 747 by now with a nice retirement fund and pension to look forward to. *sigh*

I can see you being a Navy pilot. I guess they wanted to protect u from all the sexual harrassment that is starting to get a lot of press attention here lately. It goes beyond just harassment too from what I've heard. Well flying an ultralight is pretty darn cool! Its probably more exciting than flying an airliner. I got the chance to fly a cessna skylane once because an acquantance of my former boss owned it and heard that I always wanted to be a pilot. It was awesome. We actually passed a boeing 737 at 4000' in the air. It was so cool.

That's exactly what their issue was, Gabe. They were all military guys and knew how the ladies were treated at that time. Hopefully, things are getting better.
Ultralites are awesome...following cars along the Interstate. Flying over cornfields and dropping down because the air becomes cooler. Amazing feeling of freedom.
Can't imagine what it would be like to fly a jet.

Actually I hear its still pretty bad in the navy. They were interviewing a woman in the navy just the other night about it and she's trying to do something about it. She said a lot of women have been raped, not just harassed, and they are afraid to come forward because they know they can't really do anything about it and its still going on. She was a victim of attempted rape herself by an officer but was able to fight him off.
Wow I didnt know the ultralight was that much fun! I'd love to try that someday. I'd also like to fly in a fighter jet. There is actually a place in Phoenix, AZ where for $800 you can fly an actual aerobatic plane in a mock dog fight. You fly with a real pilot of course but its not a simulation, and the planes are as maneuverable as jets, just not as fast. Still, they have a 170knot cruising speed (195mph) so they're pretty fast.
