How does a person become a child of God? Certainly not through their human intellect or wisdom. In fact, no measure of education or good deeds could qualify someone to receive eternal life. Jesus made it very clear that child-like faith, the quality of simply believing, is what causes a life to be snatched from the kingdom of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of light. When a sinner accepts and believes with all his heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He gave His life, taking the sin of the world upon Himself, and paid its penalty so that we don't have to be subject to it or its consequences ever again, faith is produced in his heart. And when that same sinner accepts and believes that Jesus rose from the dead and is seated victorious over everything we will ever have to face in this life, faith will begin to rise inside of him.

Then, when he acknowledges and confesses with his lips that Jesus is Lord and in his heart believes that God raised Him from the dead, he will be saved! Just the same, accepting and believing what the Word of God says, produces the powerful force of faith in our lives, and when we act on that faith, and respond to God's Word, we see everything it says become our reality. The same child-like faith that got you born-again, is the faith you use to live in the promises of God's Word. Just believe, take Him at His Word, do what it tells you to do and the results will be nothing less than what His Word has promised you.
