Kenny Rogers Dead At 81
The country singer-songwriter “passed away peacefully at home from natural causes,” his family announced on Twitter.

nny Rogers has died at the age of 81.
The country singer-songwriter and actor “passed away peacefully at home” in Sandy Springs, Georgia, “from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family” at 10:25 p.m. on Friday, his family announced via his social media profiles.

“In a career that spanned more than six decades, Kenny Rogers left an indelible mark on the history of American music,” Rogers’ family said in a statement shared online by the icon’s publicist.
It noted how the multi-Grammy Award winning artist’s songs including “The Gambler,” “Islands in the Stream” and “Through the Years” had “endeared music lovers and touched the lives of millions around the world.”
A small private service will be planned “out of concern for the national COVID-19 emergency,” the family said, adding it would celebrate the Country Music Hall of Fame member’s life “publicly with his friends and fans at a later date.”

Fellow country music star LeAnn Rimes was among the first to pay tribute to Rogers, tweeting “you are and forever will be quite the legend.”

Houston-born Rogers, who was one of seven siblings, is survived by his wife, Wanda, sons Justin, Jordan, Chris and Kenny Jr., two brothers, a sister and grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his representative Keith Hagan told The Associated Press.

So terribly sad and yet what a life he led. He will always live on in his music. And his great collaborations with that other legend, Ms. Dolly Parton. God's peace surround you sir. And thank you for the music.

I had not heard that.............sad............but so many people die each day, and the death of every one of them is sad........we just didn't know them........but someone knew them and loved them.

All we can do is pray that they were reconciled with God prior to their passing.

I think it would be a great day when death notice thread didn't contain a posting that made the passing of someone seem insignificant. How heartless that is. And to then after that to claim we may hope that person was saved, is just so disingenuous given the former allusion to the meaninglessness of that person's death.

He loved music and Kenny Rogers was in the business for 70 years! That's some career. God rest him. He was also a great guy. He helped Lionel Richie take off on his solo career after the Commodores.

I keep seeing the commercial for his tribute special that airs next month. I wonder when it was recorded? Very sad. I liked the gambler, even the movie was good. But whoever wrote those lyrics didn't play poker. You always count your money while at the table. It is how you know how to bet the other people playing against you.
