Sometimes threads in non-politics forums turn in to politics debates, This thread is meant as a dumping off spot for those discussions. If ya gotta take it outside to settle it, do it here!!!
 
Ok, so proud libertarian..umm...can you expound on how a Libertarian can support a nanny state?

Still_waters, I view the 'nanny state' as a necessary evil. We can't have poor children going with our food or elderly citizens getting their electricity shut off. In a perfect world, the Church would look after the poor, but I don't see that happening!!!!

And I would rather my tax dollars be spent on helping to alleviate poverty than to murder iraqi children, but hey, that's just me.

Agreed. As a Midwest Conservative, I think that people should be able to take care of themselves, and for those who can't, the church should step in.
 
This issue is political, I suppose. Scriptures says this:

[14] The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, "Lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward;
[15] for all the land which you see I will give to you and to your descendants for ever.” Gen 13:14-15 RSV

Is the Lord saying here that all of Palestine belongs to the Jews forever?
 
I asked some people about this at church today—the Palestinian question. Someone pointed out something that hadn’t occurred to me. The Lord said the land would be inherited by Abram’s descendants. However, Abram’s descendants included the Palestinians. (That is, Hagar was also a wife of Abraham, and they had the son Ishmael.)

Now certainly I am way over my head in these matters, but one can‘t help be curious if there isn’t a solution to all the trouble they have in Israel and Palestine, can one?
 
If the United States bombed both, they would have to work together against the United States. Thus! Unity.
 
Most of the christians I have spoken too, generally say something like this. "LET'S BOMB THEM TOWEL HEADS!! NYAHHH"
