On my i5 and i7, 16 gigs of ram computers, I've been running Windows 10 edge for virtualbox inside virtualbox, and have been able to get the windows app to run that way. However, down stairs, where I am right now, I use a really old computer from 2007. It has just a dual core processor and 4 gigs of ram. It can run some virtual machines as long as they are really lightweight. Unfortunately getting something like Windows XP or Vista to run in virtualbox has practically become impossible. The guest additions won't install.

Now your probably wondering how come I don't use VMware? The last time I tried VMware on this machine, it wouldn't run. It gave me an error message saying something about how it didn't like the processor type or something... I did download it again, and have been kinda planning on trying it again. But haven't got around to it.

As of lately I've been trying to see if I can get WineHQ to run the adobeair and the chat app. I'm brand new to using wine and don't know what I'm doing. So far all I get is errors. I joined the WineHQ forums and reported those errors. One person answered me and said they got it working on their end. Gave me some suggestions. I tried those suggestions but still get the same errors. I reported back to the guy, but it could be a while before I hear back. The WineHQ forums has some rules. As a new member, I need to make 3 posts before they will let me post freely. That means every post I make must be approved before it can be read. Anyways that is where I'm at with this.

I am going to go read some documentation about WineHQ.

I the person on the wineHQ forums helped me to get the adobeair and the app installed. But it can't connect. I gave Him some information and i hope that He will know what I need to do to make it connect.

As you can see I got the Christian Chat APP Icon on the desktop.

Here is the error message I received.

If your curious about the error code, here it is.

This is a few links and commands. I'm only showing you what I did. For you it might be different.

Download it
https://wiki.winehq.org/Download

i went to Ubuntu since I'm running Linux Mint.
https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu

I ran all of these commands.

Code:
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386

sudo wget -nc -O /usr/share/keyrings/winehq-archive.key https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key

sudo wget -nc -P /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/dists/focal/winehq-focal.sources

sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable
https://wiki.winehq.org/Winetricks

Code:
cd "${HOME}/Downloads"

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Winetricks/winetricks/master/src/winetricks

chmod +x winetricks

sudo cp winetricks /usr/local/bin
Code:
sudo apt install winbind

sudo winetricks --self-update

winetricks -q ie8
Code:
wget -P ~/.cache/winetricks/ie8/ https://download.microsoft.com/download/C/C/0/CC0BD555-33DD-411E-936B-73AC6F95AE11/IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe

winetricks -q ie8

mv ~/.wine ~/.wine.old

WINEARCH=win32 winecfg /v winxp

wget -P ~/Downloads https://airsdk.harman.com/assets/downloads/33.1.1.743/AdobeAIR.exe

wine ~/Downloads/AdobeAIR.exe

wine ~/Downloads/ChristianChat-3.9.0-Setup.exe

cd "${HOME}/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Christian Chat"
wine "Christian Chat.exe"
After all of that, I got it run.
