What a great quote by DL Moody! Yes, faith makes all things possible. Did not our Lord says, “All things are possible to him who believes?” Our God is the Almighty God. There is nothing impossible with Him. But what about love?
If you read the New Testament carefully, you will find that faith and love go together. There is the breastplate of faith and love, 1 Thess 5.8. You cannot have faith without having love. You cannot believe in the Lord Jesus Christ without loving Him. We love Him because He first loved us; He gave His life for us on the cross. Saving faith is loving faith; I love my Lord Jesus Christ. He gave His life for me! Read Galatians 2.20 the last part.
The problem with us is that we try to believe, but we fail to love. God is love. He loves us with an everlasting love. He yearns for us. He does not want us to perish in our sins. He does not want us to come short of the glory of God. He wants to bless us abundantly. So great is His love towards us. But we are always thinking about ourselves, our problems and difficulties; our lives revolve around our own ‘self’. We need to step out of our ‘self’ and move into ‘Christ’. We need to take a closer look at the Cross.
Agape love, everlasting love, unfailing love, inseparable love – God’s love is so great, and it reaches out to one and all. If we truly meditated on the Cross, and if we reflected daily on His Word, we would come to love our Saviour more and more. “Underneath are His everlasting arms”, Deut 32.27. He will never let us go. He will not fail us or forsake us. Once we realize the love of God poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit (Rom 5.5), and meditating upon and experiencing God’s Word, we will find eventually that ‘love makes all things easy’. We will love to please Him, obey Him, serve Him.
We need to pray, “Lord, how can I please You? Lord, teach me to obey You. Give me grace to obey You, because I can’t do it by myself. Lord, I want to serve You. Help me to serve You joyfully, in the Spirit. Amen.”
