- “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33).
During many, many years, I preached about this verse, but I never delved to the point of mulling over about “what is the kingdom of God?” or “where is the kingdom of God?”.
How can we enjoy this promise if we don’t know how to fulfill its behest?
When Jesus was argued about something like this, behold what He averred:
- “Now having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”.” (Luke 17:20,21).
Jesus’ kingdom is inside those who have commitment with Him and His Word. So, seek the kingdom of the Creator is to seek those people that belongs to Jesus and assist them in what they need to increase in faith and grace before the Creator and the men.
But everything starts with the end of all accusation:
- “And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. and the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and *the kingdom of our God* and the authority of His Christ *have come*, *for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down*, he who accuses them before our God day and night.” (Revelation 12.7-10).
We need to raise awareness that we are here to rescue the lost sheep in the sin (Lk 15.7). Understand: a mechanic can't hold a grudge because came into his garage a car dirty of oil and a dermatologist can take a grudge because came into his office a man full of wounds that are obnoxious and contagious.
Alike, we can't be grudge because Jesus brought to us a sinner. We are here to be used by Him to save them. Of course, they will mistreat us, inasmuch as their heart is full of malign. And, as we know, the mouth speaks about what there is in abundance in the heart (Matthew 12.34,35) and the tongue control the body (James 3.7).
Notwithstanding:
- “To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose* that you might inherit a blessing*.” (1Peter 3.8,9).
So, if we desire that the promise of Matthew 6.33 fulfill in our lives, we need to seek first the kingdom of the Creator (Jesus’ body), and His righteousness (that is to say, to impart our life so that Jesus’ body can be fortified to win Ha-Satan (1Peter 5.8,9) and be used by Him so that the earth can be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2.14)).
