Yes, it is lovely and does remind us of what Jesus gave that we may have life...

Their band name reminds me of David Crowder for some reason

when I was a kid almost all music was religious type music I’ve seen over the years how it has changed.

in the sixties , then 70s , then 80s I saw all this demonic influence begin to be prevalent in music that never existed before that in music anyways in America I don’t know about foreign places

but then the 90s and on now days they sing about sexual things and violence money and just all the things in Gods word we find identified as sinful

I think music shows a lot about the state of men and the decline of morality and belief in thankful for good annointed music

it really lifts me but I often wonder if that other music is affecting also those who hear and consistently repeat it I wonder if it has that effect the other way on say younger minds ? As of it can influence how one thinks and perceives the world

I’m not saying music is evil but I wonder if it does influence both good and evil

Yes, I understand what you are saying. The secular music of my generation, and that from just before it (such as Elvis), shocked, appalled and disgusted/horrified many "older" people. Dire predictions, much tongue clucking and head shaking ensued as pronouncements were made, not just about the music, but the antics of the performers and the effect of both upon its listeners. Performers do seem to try to outdo each other with their outrageous behavior, and there can be no doubt after many decades since Elvis that the music industry as a whole has a deleterious and degenerative effect upon many who enter into it.

Even though I found such predictions to be ridiculous at the time, I have given much thought to the reasons behind why there was such an outcry in the first place. There is no going back in time to try to understand the mindset of those opposed way back when, but it does seem they knew that such things appealed to the senses in a way that would encourage the further encroachment of sin upon and into our society. I don't think we can blame the music industry alone, as the fallen nature of man pretty much ensures that this degradation and decline of morals will seep into and effect everything regardless. I believe music does influence both good and evil.

Thank God for modern praise and worship! It is interesting how we all have our different tastes when it comes to this genre :) Being brought up in the RCC, I do not care for much of that sort of hymnary, though I do love many Christmas carol standards, and devotional Christmas songs in general, as well as some other standards such as Amazing Grace. However, it is the modern praise and worship that really speaks to and moves me. There is much criticism of this genre from some sectors, sometimes saying things about it not being doctrinally correct (I cannot name any that fit that category ), or things about the leadership of the church it comes out of (such as Hillsong, for example). I suppose there is no escaping such things, but they do not affect my ability to worship in Sprit and in Truth.

When I first became Christian I listened to modern praise and worship on my television, and over time certain songs really stood out for me. Some of these songs were being sung at the churches I attended at the time, and then I believe it was my boss who left a shoebox full of cassette tapes of much of the same for me on my printer. Those early songs have stayed with me over the years. Songs like God of Wonders, and so many more. I found this online station: TheLight Worship Player | 89.9 TheLight :D

Have you heard of Matt Maher? He was one of the many artists of my early exposure to modern praise and worship :)

This is another fave from my very early days :D

I think one of the reasons I like some of these artists so much is because they articulate
parts of my own life in coming to believe, and reflect, too, the love I have for God...

Amen to all you said there I really can relate to a lot of it

“There is no going back in time to try to understand the mindset of those opposed way back when, but it does seem they knew that such things appealed to the senses in a way that would encourage the further encroachment of sin upon and into our society. yes it was a huge deal not just with Elvis but what they called “ rock and roll “ it was also television . I also being very young thought “ that’s silly it’s just music “ because the censorship entity in America seemed to be having a fit or something

but I have actually come to really wish people would have listened to them. I don’t believe music or entertainment “ cause “ anything I think it’s more of a reflection of the changing heart and mknd of man sort of “ what comes out of our mouths is a reflection of what’s inside us “

The influence I think seems to be the function of spreading this corruption through things like music , entertainment even things like Islam , In those days it was taboo because really and truly America had much more of a biblical foundation it was hard to find anyone who would say things against Christ or the Bible as compared now to it’s hard to find someone who will love and accept the word

it makes me sad to think back to
My childhood because it was a different world completely in America anyways. It reminds me of Israel how God established a great nation but then as time passed that nation forgets its founder who blessed it and reap the consequences and curses of doing so

I think the world is full of evil influence from music to movies and television one example would be pornography of course , I read an article a while back of how much money was spent on pornography in the last decade ot was shocking

but even just television today you find sitcoms based on normalizing homosexuality I think when kids watch television it definately influences what they accept as every day normal

Satan is a clever and subtle deceiver many of his things seem harmless , and we don’t even realize he’s behind it but he’s also poisonous to the soul with his influences

I’m with you though I’m definately not saying those things are the cause it’s more that those thkngs spread corruption into the world into mknds and hearts which can if we aren’t careful lead us into a perverted and twisted mind and understanding of life
