I'm new here, so first off hello everyone! I wanted to share my testimony with ears that will listen.
So it begins early in my childhood, I was not raised a Christian, not by any means. Granted I had a loving mother and father, but that about all. I had a stepfather that abused me. So in my early teens I turned to the streets, looking for a connection, someone who understood me. I found gangs and drugs, they gave me something that I thought I was looking for. So time progressed I left the gangs but not the drugs, I was still missing something in my life.
Late teens now I found some hippies that seems great, they offered free love, drugs, and great music!
I toured the United States with great bands such as the Grateful Dead, Phish, and Widespread Panic. I was loving it, but yet I was still missing something.
Now 25 years old, I met my ex-wife. A care giver by nature, a friend of my mothers, so I though this could be it. I married her after a year of dating, had some laughs, some fun, and of course drugs.
Age 27 I get a call from my daddy, my best friend, telling me he's in the hospital and he needed to talk to me.. I get to the hospital and he tells me he has the cancer and is gonna die. Now you have to know that my daddy and I were best friends not just father and son. I love my daddy, I'm a daddy's boy!
So hospice came in and I signed all the papers for my daddy to come home with me and die with me, I figured it was the least I could do, he took care of me for most of my life, I can take care of him the rest of his. So then I went home to take a shower.
2 hours later I get a call from the hospital saying that my daddy seems to be doing better when I am there, so I head out quickly to go be with him.. I get there and he seems asleep.. I go downstairs to have a quick smoke, and my mom calls me on the phone telling me to get up there now.. I ran so fast, I had security chasing me and all but I had to get there.. He barly had a heartbeat when I got there, I took his head in my hands and kissed his forehead and told him to go be with Jesus, at the moment he flat-lined.......My daddy was gone.....
That Christmas Eve the first without him, my wife comes home and tells me she wants a divorce. That was more then I could handle.
I decided to take all her pills she had..... I was rushed to the ER where I flat-lined.
I remember seeing a bright, bright light, no tunnel like you hear others tell.. Within this bight light I saw two feet. I knew then it was my Jesus that I have heard about..
At that time, He placed His foot upon my head and said to me " I know you not"
(Blackness) I was then in total blackness, nothingness, total absence from God. It seems like three years I was there, I cried out all the time, but no answer.
Finally.. I heard a voice say "Take up your cross, and walk with me"
I awoke in the ER only gone for 20-30 seconds.
I am now a minister at a church, I have a BS in Theology and Biblical Studies, to this day I can still hear that voice telling me to take up my cross.
I ask anyone reading this , if you haven't accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior and walked with him, do so now.
Tomorrow is not promised, but today is.. Trust me you don't want to go before the Father and Him place His foot upon your head and say I knew you not!
God Bless all of you and thank you for reading!!
