Why do you think Nicodemus went to see Jesus ? He didn't get to say exactly why he snuck in at night.Was he still doubting Jesus' authority ? In John 3 , Nicodemus' first statement(sneaking in just to say that..Hmm) and Jesus' answer don't necessarily explain Nicodemus' reason for him getting up wherever he was to risk his reputation.Something was itching him restlessly !!
 
I have a few theories! First thing we need to understand is that Nicodemus was a Pharisee, a teacher of the law. He like the other teachers of the law looked down at Jesus they believed the Messiah would come as a warrior king, not a suffering servant. He probably went to meet Jesus at night for the same reason they went to arrest Jesus at night; so that no one would know that he was going to see Jesus, and not stir something up or perhaps not look bad. In the end though even after everything Nicodemus did, the bible never mentions whether or not he went and walked with Christ I wonder if he ever ended up truly believing and being saved. Well that's my two cents on it
