Non Christian Music gives me more Hope than Christian

Classic set up of the Straw Man argument against Christian rock. He who frames the question wins the debate. I've seen these types since the 80s when they slammed Stryper, Petra, Rez Band, etc. They dismiss the Fruit. Style over substance. They have no facts that CCM destroys lives, churches or sends one to hell. Religious legalism.

Especially considering the realm of strictly Christian music. Stop judging the genre's. The genre is't going to ruin anything. The lyrics are the important part, regardless of whether they are sung, screamed, or hummed. Anyone saying Christian Rock is bad for you, that person is in reality is actually what is bad for you.

Also my pastor preaches straight from the bible every week. He just isn't a legalist. Nor does he support those who are.

I really think this is something you should study out some more. Holding to Biblical standards of holiness in the realm of music is not legalism. See the following links:

I'm sorry I have a hard taking Dial-the-Truth ministries seriously. Anyone that still holds a 1611 KJV only stance is a little off their rocker in my opinion. Its historically stated that King James wasnt even using purely righteous motvies in makign his own translation and yet people think this is the end all of tranlations? that right there shows a lack of right discerning on that site. If those are your personal beliefs crypto, then i welcome you to them. And youre no less a person for having them, but please dont try to force them on everyone else.

I'm not KJV only, but what they are saying about music is true.

You think its wrong, ok thats cool, no one is going to force you to listen to it. However by the same token, you have no reason to condemn us for enjoying it either

So with the Scriptures you share here, if a person is a drunkard or a drug addict, and we confront them on it, and they use the verses you provide, should we leave them alone?
 
I'm all for letting someone live their own life and not forcing personal opinions on them. Also this is dealing with christians only. If a fellow christian is a drunkard or drug user its not my place to condemn them. It doesnt say anything about not offering help. or not being subject to the laws of society. And great job comparing music to drug use...way to stretch the topic.

But no I have no problems with how someone else chooses to live. God gave us free will. If someone knows the possible consequences then what else would you suggest?

Not a stretch of the topic at all, I am trying to get you to think critically. God gave us free will of course, but He also gave Scriptural truth to directly deal with issues, and Scriptural principles that handle issues not specifically dealt with. We have to remember that God is holy, and in His holiness we cannot approach Him in ways that He doesn't approve, and those links I provided show why a musical genre which adds Christian words to historically worldly music is not appropriate for worship. A person can claim "Christian liberty" and throw those verses you shared at everything, without realizing God's Word has specific truth about things that aren't gray areas, but clear black and white issues. The Bible doesn't say to avoid studying out issues and use the Christian liberty argument, it says:

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.--2 Tim. 2:15


But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:-1 Peter 3:15

I like Tobymac like burn for you and Catchafire, tonight, And City on our knees is really good I think, I really don't listen to Skillet (I think that's the bands name). Newsboys are really good, I like the born again album. Like the song Miracles, born again, escape is alright song, and beyond myself by Newboys are good. I like the band Abandon and their song "feel it in your heart". These are some of my favorite or like Christian bands and songs.

well you can live in your realm of stuffy old hymns and legalistic holiness doctrines. I will enjoy everything christianity has to offer including christian rock...which has a heck of a lot more feeling and power in it than some 200 year old song. If you think its wrong, well im not hear to impress you.
