All religions are different accounts of experiences with the divine. But while man puts together religion often many years after events, those current religions were written and put together in times when life was barbaric, and women were slaves. They were not written in a more civilised time when people started to grasp the importance of love. Out of all the religions, Jesus as a figure of love, God's Love, Love manifest in human form still doesn't really teach people to be loving because it all belongs together with writings which includes some barbaric and violent thoughts towards others, or non-believers, etc.
Look at newspapers, what are they full of, what is it people generally like to read or focus on? What type of journalism thrives? People are addicted to scapegoating people who may or may not be worse than them. It gives them some kind of purpose, the conquerors, the challengers, the holy, the free, the exceptional, the truth-knowers. Human nature is Pharisee-like, and parasitical. Our sub-conscious is under constant manipulation whether we know it or not.
But there is a reason people are more inclined to negative news, rather than positive news. It is their flesh they are abiding by.
The bible is full of negative news, but the positive news is Jesus. However in my observation of Christians, their focus tends to be more on condemning others or amalgamating with people like them, rather than 'love your enemies'. Remember, both ideas are in the Bible. Some talk about a lot of contradiction in the bible, but really it is still free will that guides you to Jesus or to the negativity and violence, that you use to reason your actions, no different from the way ISIS 'use' things to reason theirs.
For example, Jesus didn't say this, but maybe you believe and accept behaviour from God that acts like this:
"
O Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction,
happy is he who repays you
for what you have done to us- [SUP]9[/SUP] he who seizes your infants
and dashes them against the rocks.
"
If you look at a news rack, speaking hypothetically, and it is full of things like "Scientists find new way to stop pollution" "Russia planning to attack USA" "Mass shooting 2000 dead" "1 million Christians slaughtered in Muslim country"
Which one grabbed you first? Which one gives you an itching sensation to want to know more? While Christians often think they are better than the average person, often they are no different, but hide it under a religious façade. So while in the Bible, these were the people Jesus would speak against, within religion these people have a tendancy to become the same people that Jesus was against.
The way religions are written (out-dated and barbaric) and the way they are taught (glorification), leave me no doubt that the only way this world will ever touch upon heaven is if there is a new religion where Love is the Godhead (because God is Love).
Imagine that there was a Second Coming in your life time, and a religion was written about Jesus as the Godhead, well this is exactly the second coming of a new religion that stamps out all before it.
In the Christian bible and religion, Jesus is simply part of it, and rather than understood and empathised with as a human image of God, Jesus is put on a pedestal and glorified, which in and of itself is idolisation. Idolisation is the most physical barrier between you and what you are idolising.
"Scientists discover that being more Christ-like brings more peace to the community"
"10 million Christian worshippers at holy site killed by Muslim terrorists"
Which one grabs you more? Are you a child of God, or are you a child of Man?
