Giving has always been a trait that identifies us as followers of Christ. Open hands instead of clenched fists. Open homes for those who had none and in need. Open hearts ready to love, which also make us an exposed prey for opportunists. We are open; therefore, we are made vulnerable. But only the open, especially the empty, is the best vessel for replenishment. An open hand is best where God can place His best on it. His blessings can only be wasted if given in folded fingers. God can never give anything on a closed fist; He has to pry it open first. It always hurts when that happens.
