The Corinthians epistles are written to believers. (1 Cor 1:2).
Every believer has been justified & received Christ' imputed gift of righteousness (Rom 5:17-18). Placing them in a right standing with the Father, thru Faih in Christ/the Lord our righteousness. (Jer 23:5, 33:15, 1 Cor 1:30, 2 Cor 5:21)
2 Cor 3:
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
(MY NOTE: Believers are the epistle of Christ. Possessing/indwelt by the Spirit of the living God in their Hearts)
4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
(MY NOTE: Jesus is the propitiation/atonement for all the believer's sins & reconciles them with the Father (Rom 3:24, 1 Jn 2:2, 4:4)
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
(MY NOTE: Not because of anything we ourselves did (beyond faith). Because of Gods free gift of grace (Rom 3:24, Eph 4:7), Christ's blood in payment & free imputed gifts of righteousness & eternal life (Rom 5:17-18, 6:23)
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
(MY NOTE: NT believers are to be spiritual ministers of the new eternal testament. NOT ministers of the temporal/physical [obsolete] Old Testament laws. OT/OC letter/law administered death & eternal separation - Christ NT/NC Holy Spirit administers liberty & eternal life.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
(MY NOTE: The OT Mosaic law always meant to be temporal/fade away. Just like the glory that once shined on Moses' face faded away)
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
(MY NOTE: The Christ mediated eternal life-giving Holy Spirit NT ministry, is forever glorious)
9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
(MY NOTE: The OT/OC law administered condemnation. Sentencing the sinner to death without mercy. Where Christ' NT/NC administration of Spiritually imputed righteousness gives the believing sinner forgiveness, mercy & life eternal)
10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
(MY NOTE: The physical/temporal OT Mosaic covenant that was once glorious has faded away. But now we have a better forever glorious, Spiritual Christ mediated sin forgiving, eternal life-giving new covenant)
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
(MY NOTE: NT/NC believers hope isn't based on our ever-failing attempts at self-works. It's based on Christ's perfect sin atoning FINISHED work)
13 And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
(MY NOTE: The physical/temporal OT Mosaic covenant has been ABOLISHED (Heb 6:7&13, 9:15 Eph 2:15) & replaced: With a BETTER forever glorious, Christ mediated enteral life-giving Spiritual NT covenant)
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
(MY NOTE: There are some that cling to the old, abolished covenant. Have a vail in front of their face blocking their vision)
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
(MY NOTE: Sadly, today's Mosaic old (obsolete) covenant promoters, place themselves behind a spiritual vail. One Jesus passed through (Matt 27:51) & tore in 1/2 on His way to paradise.)
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
(MY NOTE: The good news is sooner or later that stubborn vail, some just won't/can't let go WILL be removed)
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
(MY NOTE: Every Spirit filled/indwelt believer has LIBERTY from sin & death!)
