True disciples know persecution, religion they cannot stand,
religion is a business that leads away from the promised land.
Offences and stumbling blocks come, arrows aimed for the heart
the followers hold the line, the wicked's arrows miss the mark.
The Holy Spirit the comforter, filling the disciple with joy and peace,
in times of hard battle, the Spirit always brings sweet release.

but as for my feet they will walk on in, and fight off the enemies attack.
The enemy always active, seeking to kill and destroy,
but one thing I know to be certain, he can never take away the joy.
