Piece of Jesus' Cross found?!

Regardless of that, I think it's an awesome early-Christian artifact, the carved cross it very well-done. So I'm still glad they found this piece of Christian history!

That is a stone fragment that was dug up by the archeologist team. It was part of the "holy" stone chest, where they found the wood. There have been no pictures released of the wood piece that was found. They want to dating test before releasing the pictures.

not sure how they could differentiate one piece of wood from any particular cross compared to another...
 
I don't believe the disciples would have kept anything from the cross. For the 1st 3 days they were grieving and in hiding. After that they had the risen Savior. They were busy proclaiming the gospel, why keep the wood? It sure could be an early artifact and that is interesting but the actual cross, I don't think so.
 
John Calvin, noted that European Catholic churches housed enough “genuine” splinters from the cross on which Christ was crucified to rebuild Noah’s Ark.

embarrassingly this kind of logic is the entire basis of nearly all of the 'relics' kept by certain denominations...
 
I see pieces of wood disintegrating when I take walks...and I doubt they come from trees that died over 2000 years ago...
 
I don't think that's a piece of Jesus' cross, lol. :) No offense anyone.
 
Even if it was (which I sure don't think it is), what would it matter? It was the fact that Jesus died and rose that saved us, not the piece of wood.
 
Maybe people are thinking some of Jesus blood is in the wood and they are thinking of cloning...or getting God's dna...?

Sounds like a decent movie plot to me... ;)
