BBC News - Banksy anti-immigration birds mural in Clacton-on-Sea destroyed

For those of you who do not know who Banksy is, he is an anonymous artist who produces for all intents and purposes, graffiti artwork sprayed on walls which appear overnight. These images are high quality and portray satirical, humorous and often dark political and social comments. The walls on which these images are sprayed are now often dismantled and the artwork sold for stupid amounts of money.

Speaking of stupid, take the opposite meaning of stupid, that is thick and idioitic and that is what the Clacton-on-Sea local government are. A couple of days ago a Banksy appeared on a wall showing a very apt political satire about immigration, which you can see in the image below. However the local council received a complaint from someone that it was racist and they promptly removed it from the wall!

Now they want Banksy to come back and paint another one but this time nothing racist, reason being is that it has dawned on them this could have been a great tourist attraction!

If I were to just see this artwork without knowledge of context, I would swear Bansky is speaking out in favor of the immigrant and refugee.
 
Never heard of this guy, but this is very intriguing. I am going to have to look into the Banksy Grafitti Artist. Lol reminds me of the Toynbee Tiles.
 
Just because he is raising the value of the wall doesn't give him the right to deface it. One might wonder how he'd feel if I were to paint "art" all over his house. I'm not sure it should have been removed by the city, however. It should have been up to the owner of the wall, if it was a private building. It's a little different if it was a public building, but he has no right to spray paint buildings without permission no matter the economic benefit. And may I point out he's been doing this since before his vandalism increased the value of the wall.
 
Sounds like the locals want free murals, just not political ones! White Rock, BC, near Vancouver, is famous for its whale murals on buildings. They were contracted out, and the city spent a huge amount of money on them. No political satire allowed. Personally, I like the little "exotic" bird, more than those big ugly pigeons! LOL

I'm going to start painting graffiti on every road I can find. On top of that, it's going to be illusion art of- you guessed it. Man holes. Gigantic holes in the earth every where you go. People won't be able to tell the difference, and some will probably fall into an actual man hole thinking they knew better. Also, I don't know how this is related. The sleepier I get, the stronger the urge I have to bring havoc and chaos upon everyone. Rebellion.
