Can you please pray for a workmate, hes a dad and his son is kinda going off the rails, into the party lifestyle and drugs ecstasy and mdma. The son is now in hospital with pneumonia apparnetly as a result of all the drugs. The dad is worried sick but his son wont listen to him, hes nearly 18 now and just being your usual typical rebellious teenager but its breaking his heart.

Also theres a huge problem with the party lifestyle in general there are just drug dealers everywhere now and they prey on the young and impressionable. Being rich isnt any protection cos the rich can just drop $300 on a line of drugs to get high over the weekend and think nothing of it. If he was poor he would only get into the cheaper drugs like alcohol but hes going class A.
The dad recently bought a BMW and said he was going through a midlife crisis :-(

The maximum penalty for possessing these drugs,,,if you get caught its 6 months in prison and/or $1000 fine.
Richer people can easily pay off a $1000 fine. This is why its only poorer people in prison. Rich people arent any less criminal they just can afford the fines and avoid prison.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Deliver this father and his son from a lifestyle that is absent from You. Open their eyes, hearts and minds to see, understand and love Yeshua/Jesus - the One and Only Savior You have provided for them. Help them to believe and receive Him as Lord and Savior.

Have mercy and forgive all their sins, turn the heart of the son to the father and the heart of the father to his son. Touch and heal emotions and wrong mindsets. Deliver them, Father, and save them. Establish them in a lifestyle that is pleasing in Your sight, we ask in the Name of Yeshua/Jesus, amen.(y)

Yes, AOD (alcohol and other drugs) can affect the rich, poor or middlemen. I know cos I work in this area all the time.
My friend's very wise Mum used to say 'You can't make your kids choices for them, you can only guide and support them.' I believe part of that is true. However, when my brother ended up in jail for helping to steal a car, my Mum decided to leave him in prison overnight to teach him a lesson. Harsh?...maybe. But it did the trick. He shaped up a wee bit after that. But it took a long time for him to get his act together (he has mental health issues now, probably partly from all the alcohol & drugs he took).
People will only be accountable for themselves when they want to be - they won't change their partying, drugs and/or alcohol lifestyle until they want to. Doesn't matter how much you nag them, support them, even if you have the best doctors, best clinics, best nurses, best medication, etc. They will not change until they decide to do it themselves (with support later on).
My prayer for your friend:
Loving heavenly Father, please help Lanolin's friend to support his son during his trials, and to help his son see that this lifestyle will eventually kill him. Help his son to gain some maturity and guide him towards a better life, filled with good mates and meaningful employment or study. Amen.
Has your mate accessed any A&OD services?

Amen to that prayer.

Sorry I dont know if hes accessed any services, but maybe the doctors etc in the hospital will have a word with him. One of my friends was going to something called CADS because she admitted she had a problem.
Salvation army also has rehab centres, but I dont know where the richer people go.

In the public health service they do mental health (people just call it 'the system') but if you choose to go private you would get a pyschiatrist and it could be like $400 an hour. When rich peoole go nuts they just take a holiday at a discreet resort I would imagine.

Yes Lanonlin I worked at a very exclusive Mental Health (MH) unit in Perth, Western Ausralia. The people admitted to this unit were like multi-millionaires. Their idea of a holiday was to go fly away in their private plane, or go to the Bahamas in their private yacht. One guy I talked to had a company worth $500 million, 'give or take a few mill'. I treated them the same as any other person - there is no prejudice or judgement in my line of work. Most of them were actually really nice people, but they were so focussed on their riches and assets, that they weren't even sitting down with family for a meal or just to talk. There was alot of disconnection and drug/alcohol use & abuse.
We have public MH units down here where anyone can get treated. The private ones all have different costs & treatment programs.
The Salvation Army (Salvos) do alot of good work. I always support them.
Well here's hoping that kid will get the help he needs.

Hello, Lanolin. You really have a compassionate heart, and it’s nice of you to seek prayer for your workmate and his son. I’m standing with you in praying that God will surround them with His infinite love, care and protection. May He provide the strength and wisdom needed to overcome their struggles at this time. Grace and peace to you and yours.

Next week when we see him we must take him some flowers or something from the garden (only work with him once a week) or something to cheer him up. I forgot to ask about his son how hes doing but must keep praying.
