Two years ago I was in a really bad place. I was in bankruptcy, being foreclosed upon, marital problems, I was pretty much hating life. I didn't really care if I lived or died. I tried to do good in life, to excel and I had failed. I was in a deep depression.

But I did something different this time. Instead of turning to drugs or alcohol or getting lost in a hobby or something, I turned to the Lord Jesus Christ. Full-fledged 100%. I prayed, read the bible, went to church, listened to only christian music, went to bible study and went to prayer group. It's in this prayer group that something happened.

We were all praying at the same time and my prayers were always shorter than everyone elses. So I had stopped and I just had my eyes closed and I wasn't really thinking anything, just listening to everyone pray and trying to stay in the presence of the Lord. I started to get this picture in my mind. I was alone in this big, black pit and I was trying to get up. It was a real struggle. I managed to get up onto one knee and I was just about to fall flat on my face when a man dressed all in white appeared and held out his right hand. I immediately grabbed onto his right hand with my own. This steadied me and he pulled me up onto my feet. Well when I started to look around I realized we weren't in the dark pit anymore. We were on top of the clouds and there was lots of light everywhere. Then I looked over at the man and he was gesturing towards a golden light in the distance. That's when the picture ended.

I thought about this for awhile after it happened. Meditated on it if you like good, college type words. What I think I saw was Jesus coming into my pit of despair and pulling me out. And not only did He pull me out but then He set me on the path towards the Kingdom of God. I still read the bible, pray, go to church, only listen to christian music (as much as possible) but the thing that I find the hardest to do is to pray. Its finding that time, that alone time to pray and be with the Lord. I think praying is one of the most powerful things a christian can do, how about you?

it is the most powerful thing can do i think that's why its hard sometimes, the bible say pray continually, when we do that we get into the habit of it so it doesn't seem so much like a chore

pray whenever and where ever you are. out loud, silently it does not matter. the point is placing your trust and faith in God. Heartfelt prayers are powerful and Prayers of thanksgiving are a wonderful. :)

Praise God that He drew you from darkness into His light. Praise His Holy name. Thank you God for Your love and grace!

continue in faith and remember what God says:

2 Peter 1
5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
