So, let's say of The 5 love languages of The Gary Chapman man's revealing to us, WHAT are some examoles of your 'love language' revealed for others.

So, if you say you like 'acts of service,' give us some examples, please.

If, like me, you got 'quality time' as your PRIMARY love language, give us some examples, or, just an example (I'm not picky :D ) of WHAT kind of quality time you speak of. Doing what equals quality time?

Or, gifts. If your 'primary' is receiving gifts, what kind of gifts make you 'love' that ?

Or, words of affirmation, let's note that The inspiration of this thread, or, idea , anyway, came from , Dothack The Great's 'primary love language' thread, inspiration, 'course, 'that' came from God, silly :) .

But, yeah, and, hopefully this brings more detal out of dhzero's good thread idea. :)

And, yes, as dothackzero stated, he needs 'physical touch', this for his primary love language .
What of this way of being 'wired,' does this way of needing love, getting affirmation, registering affection in your brain set you up more vulnerable to temptation than the other primary love languages ?

Ok, that's a good start.

I will.say this too: Chrissy got me to understand this love language better, and, AsIfinpassing, mzybe, post that link, goodteenpastorreecebuddy, and, mine is quality time and just rrading the Bible together would work good for me,now with a girl, iron sharpening iron, so to speak, and, just doing good things to help.others as we spend time together, like church is high quality to.me and family time, her's and mine.

I made my primary love language QUALITY TIME, so you know.

So, in this thread before I go, and, let you go, :°...

1. Say primary love language: quality time, physical touch, receiving gifts, acts of service, words of affirmation.

2. Give a definition of what 'love' means to you, speaking through your love language.

3. Show us a past example of someone hitting your primary love language perfectly in your mind.

QT.
I will explain it in my own words. Well, for me it is important to spend time with ppl whom I love. For example- I have a friend who can live without seeing her friends for a loooong time. That does not work with me. Yes, I want some space (sometimes). But most of the time I want to see ''my ppl'' -> and spend some time with thm->by doing some thngs together. It doesn't matter what -we can go somehwere, talk, ride a bike, even watch a movie, go to concerts, go on a trip...and so on.

GIFTS.
Speaking of gifts. I love to make gifts for my friends. Sometimes-> I buy flowers to my friends (girls) just like that. I know that a woman likes flowers. And I like to find some special gifts for my friends. It doesn't have to be a huge gift. Even small-little thngs can make someone happy. Whn I recieve a gift(esp. somethng that I really like) from someone->it makes me think that they really think of me. That means they were thinking of-> how to make me happy. What to buy-> to make me happy. They were (basssssicalllly) thinking of me. It makes me feel special in some way.

Acts of service.
Same with acts of service. I always say-less words, more actions!!!!!!!! Whn I see that someone really does somethng for me - I know that they really care about me. And I do the same. Even if I don't wanna help out (sometimes). Or don't feel like I want to.

Physical touch.
It is important for me. But I don't like being touched by strangers or ppl that I don't like. But those three thngs- QT, GIFTS and ACTS OF SERVICE comes first. That is how I mesure love. :) Cause it is very easy to touch someone, but it takes time to meet someone, find a gift for them-or do somethng to help thm.

Words of Affirmation:
The Bible is absolutely chocked full of things that scream how much our Creator loves us. (read Psalms) Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. (Matt 11:28-30) I want to be with a Woman who will tell me that she wants to be with me, that she will follow me to the ends of the earth and that she will love me all of my days for the spirit that lives within me. For me it is a matter of truth and judgement, verbalized. I would give both my tonsils to find one of those.

Quality Time:
I hate to bring up Mary and Martha again but, if someone loves me, they shouldn't run off and do the dishes or make me a sandwich. They should spend time with me. Whether its singing ABBA on a road trip or sharing an hour of coffee, every second there shows me that they care. It can be anything, even doing the dishes together or going for a walk or simply sitting on the living room floor talking.

Physical Touch:
Important but, I don't know why and I can't really explain it. Growing up it was at the bottom of my list. I hated hugs and snuggling, I felt like I was smothered by old people. Not that I don't like my mother but, physical touch only works if I like the person. When I love them, even them grabbing my arm can give me chills. Its not sexual chills and its not sexual touch. Its like when athletes punch each other in the arm, it builds a bond. Much like athletes, being in a long term relationship is a team effort and having PT builds that sense of camaraderie and esprit de corps. Its also why couples should wrestle.

Acts of Service:
I'm usually more annoyed by this one than anything. Stop vacuuming, stop wiping my windows, I don't care if you iron my shirt, and don't run around doing stuff for me in lieu of spending time with me. But I understand that some people can't and its just how they are wired. I think this stems from my mother who always kept herself busy doing little things here and there, always a new project or something or someone that needed taken care of. I just thought there was something wrong with her. I'll clean for hours, its a mindless activity that allows me to sing or listen to my ipod or an audiobook. It has nothing to do with love for me. (note: I still somewhat think that its a small sign of crazy to be always doing something, as the people who can't stop are always stressed out)

Gifts:
I always wanted.... Stuff. Unless a gift contains words of affirmation (and not the cheesy smarmy kind found in antique stores about how this home is as warm as fresh baked cookies). I mean like a sword etched with a verse of encouragement. I guess, I'm not big on stuff and I feel like its usually more of a burden than a gift. "Here, I bought you a fish." really feels more like the Led Anchor of Obligation. (Unless its a Beta named Mr. Beta and I was looking for one). If I wake up and find a Lexus in the driveway on Christmas with a bow on top, I might feel like someone doesn't understand me at all and in fact hates me.

1) Gifts

2) Something thoughtful, that has meaning behind it (not necessarily expensive), showing that they were thinking of me. It communicates to me that the relationship is special to them and they are willing to put effort in to the relationship.

3) A past example: I knew a fellow who was planning to send me a surprise package in the mail of something he made to express his feelings for me. It never ended working out for several reasons. But I later found out that he made me a codex using the NLT bible for me to search and decipher what the message said. That hit my love language dead-on although I don't think he realized it.

Great perspectives from all, may God show you you more from your openness of whatmakes you tick when it comes to love. And, here's what I think.

Errorbeautiful, LOL @ 'my people,' it reminded me of a commercial, think its USA company , hr block. But, yes, well said answers, good meaning and candidnesss, milady , and, that's nice of ya buying flowers for your girl friends. :) ====
=======()=======
liamsON , excellent thought, LOL @ you'd sacrifice your tonsils for girl who can affirm you well, with words, like the example of bonding by punching friend in arm example.

what about acts of service though, what about a girl doing something for you that you hate to do, like, maybe, cook? or, maybe, you aren't good at ironing, to me, THAT doing would be a love language. that leads to quality time too, doesn't it?
()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()
arewinning, that's how dense we guys are. You'd probably be married to this guy IF only he'd recognized his codex bible 'gift' was sooo very especially special to you, sounds like, from your last sentence that true of your 'primary love' for this guy.

___________
My love language is quality time but WHEN combined with an act of service, like ironing, vacuuming my place, that brings the love language in me speaking perfectly clear; along those same lines, the desire of her to spend time listening to me talk about things of the Word , that act will put my love language in full.gear, really wanting to learn more about what she loves in life.

Quality time - Sharing dreams, lying on a blanket in the grass watching the stars, dancing in parking lots when only we can hear the music, pillow fights, snuggling on the couch watching a ballgame, snowball fights, laughing and singing in the car on road trips. I'm not a clingy person. Alone time is important for everyone. But I love moments that freeze my brain in time. They become precious memories that remain long after those we love are gone.

Physical touch - Holding hands, massaging his neck/back/feet, putting my head on his chest to listen to his heart, sneaking up behind him to wrap my arms around his middle and laying my head against his back, gently putting my hand on his arm when I talk with him to let him know that while my words may be strong my love is stronger still, feeling his hand on my back when I enter a situation that I may find a bit unsettling....a kiss that can say far more than I can put into words. When I was married I learned that intimacy is far more than just what goes on in the bedroom.

My primary love language? gimme Christ!! As he says, as he does.... Simple as that..

Can we get too much of our primary love language?

i think I hear poW saying this ...,you , we, all us, should make 'God' things what we primarily love .

The book "The Five Love Languages" lists out, chapter by chapter, the exact culminations of each of the love languages, and also provides helpful real-life examples of them. I think it's a fantastic book for even singles to read.

For me, love means my wife texting me at random times during the day just to say she loves me or she's thinking of me. For her, it means me sitting down with her, holding her hand, and listening to all the random things she did today without any other distractions (not while watching TV, not while eating dinner, not while driving in the car, etc).
