Miracle Today @Maryann2003 ,

The Lord put this verse on my heart when thinking what was the central verse that I should make clear.

I opened my Bible to the exact page without leafing through the books, searching chapters or even looking at verse numbers. The Lord Who lives in me put my eyes directly on what Jesus still says today through His written word and His disciples.

Why do you think He would want us to have this particular verse?

What’s one habit that has helped you grow closer to God?

Whether it’s prayer, worship, journaling, or reading Scripture, I’d love to hear what’s made the biggest difference in your walk with Christ.
Reading the Bible , all of it , Old and New , every single day , for 30 years now . This has been a massive treasure to me , a strengthener and a comforter beyond measure . The Bible truly is alive and , it can dwell in u and live in u and if u have read it regularly it can even comfort and strengthen u when u r not reading . Every time I read it I c something new , something that missed last time , something that wasn't clear to me b 4 , suddenly it's clear now ! It is genuinely a well of fresh clean water that renews me , it's the only thing that has kept me sane and calm and cheerful and it will always do so because it is God's Word . It's how I know about Him and His Son and His plan of salvation . It's how I know how beautiful and pure and infinite and powerful and loving and merciful God is .

Definitely reading scripture, I think without it, I'd be lost.

For me, it had to be KJV though, as someone gave me a new NIV study Bible and at the time, I couldn't read it or make any sense of it. I tried to do the reading where you tick off the boxes of certain passages but until I read the whole thing, without all the commentary that kept interrupting it, I wasn't able to process or focus on what I was reading.

So I asked God for an 'old Bible' after I committed myself to further my walk with Christ. It just so happened that down the road from my work (at a library!) was a Bibles in Action shop and it sold Bibles. But instead of buying a new one, I just asked for an old one and they gave me a KJV for free!

God really showed me through that Holy Bible what He was about. Honestly it was supernatural the way scripture became illuminated for me.

I'm only interested in reading the KVJ also 👍

Honestly? In a word, repentance.

There is a saying that goes something like this:

"Are you feeling distant from God? If so, then who moved?"

There are a lot of things that can create distance between us and God. One of them is sin, and the cure for that is repentance or turning at God’s reproof when he seeks to correct us. A verse that I always keep in mind is this one:

Proverbs 1:23
King James Version

23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

With our repentance comes a promise that God will pour out his Spirit unto us and make his words known unto us. We would have to be fools to bypass this opportunity, and if you read the surrounding verses in Proverbs chapter one, then you will see that is how God describes those who refuse to turn at his reproof.

Distance can also be created between us and God simply through distraction. Even if the distraction isn't sinful in and of itself. For example, a while back, I came to the realization that my job was greatly negatively affecting my own relationship with God. Primarily because of how much of my time and effort it required. Time and effort that used to be spent reading my Bible and seeking God's face in prayer. I have desperately been seeking a new job that will not require so much of my time for months, and I will finally be starting a new one in about a week. I am greatly looking forward to not only reestablishing the closer relationship that I once had with God but to also growing it.

I don't know if any of this helps you, but that's definitely my story or situation.

Reading the Bible was critical to me becoming a Christian and after becoming a Christian continuing in reading it has fortified my faith and caused me to grow in understanding with the help of The Holy Spirit of course..
