I've seen a few people ask questions about relationships and a lot of the questions are close to what I wanted to ask, so I'd probably be better off just searching the forum; but even so it really wouldn't be the same since there are small differences and what not between my question and other questions I've read. (Otherwise I probably would've just stayed as a guest on this site. XP)

Anyway, my situation (and question) is:
So, there's this girl at my church that I'm really attracted to. Only problem is I'm too much of a scaredy cat to even try and hang out with her as friends unless it's something like the youth group going out to eat after service or something. (And even then, I'm too shy to have any kind of conversation with her, unless she initiates it.) Also, I feel like she's way out of my league, but I'm naturally a pessimist, so that really doesn't matter. >.> Anyway, I'd been thinking of asking her out and whatnot but I had been broke and would have had no money to take her out on a date. But recently I got a good job and now have money, so I thought back to asking her on a date or something to get to know her better at least. However, a few days ago, she posted on facebook something about having a long phone call with a guy and thinking he may have a future. Whether that means she likes that guy (Which I'm guessing is what's going on) or just thinks he might be someone good to possible date I dunno. But my question is, what should I do? >.> I've been praying about it for awhile, but (Maybe because I haven't been reading the Bible daily like I should) it's VERY hard for me to tell whether this is a "Wait you're not ready yet" or "Don't do that" situation.

Should I just sit around and wait to see what happens or try and just ask her out on a date? And wouldn't that just make things awkward (If I'm rejected) the next time we see each other at church or something? I really have no clue how I should act. Relationship issues always make me really confused and I end up doing nothing or something stupid. >< It'd be nice if there was a verse for this specific situation. (If there is, PLEASE let me know. It'd make things much easier.)

First off, I noticed that you described this girl as "out of my league". That phrasing says a bit about your viewpoints on dating; you see her as a goal to be achieved instead of a human being that you could potentially be sharing the rest of your life with. You're clearly intimidated by her, and girls hate that. It will show up in your interactions with her, and she will be turned off.

Second, you don't even know her, you just think she's pretty and she goes to church. Become friends with her for several months first and get to know her in a pressure-free environment. Why would someone want to date a person that they don't even know? And don't bring up the idea of a "friend zone", that's not even a thing. What guys call the friend zone is just guys who were only being friends with a girl with the intention of dating her. That's their own fault. Theres a difference in being friends with a girl to eventually date her or just to get to know her, and it shows in your interactions.

And lastly, since you're only on friendship terms, don't fret about some other guy. You don't really know her well enough to be justified in being jealous. You really have nothing invested in this right now, so relax! And good luck.

Yeah, thanks for the advice. ^^ I guess some terms are harder to get out of one's head than others, huh? ><

About the second thing you said, though, it's not that I "don't even know her", it's more like we're just church friends, though we've hung out a few times at college events and stuff. (The church I go to is fairly small and all of the college aged youth group has been there practically since birth; although I left for a few years due to personal things.) Not sure that's really any different though. >.>

Thanks again for the advice and whatnot. I guess I should just be me and whatever will happen will happen? XP
