After having been in a couple of wonderful relationships, I thought I was ready to do it again. I'm beginning to find that I'm not and I'm so glad that God has prevented me from making some mistakes.

So many people describe the horrible relationships they've had, so I'm beginning to wonder if mine have been flukes...or blessings. It is making me extremely hesitant to want to try again. Does lightening strike in the same spot twice?

I KNOW how incredible the right relationship can be and I still believe in that. Maybe I've just allowed all of the negativity to affect me...I dunno. Just one more reason for me not to ever focus on whether I should be with someone or not, but rather on seeking God's purpose and direction for my life.

Ya ever notice how usually everyone seems to find someone almost right next door? Either God is controlling everyone's every move, or, He's wise enough to stay out of our business when He needs to. Either He's maneuvered and manipulated my one perfect someone to live right next door to me and cross my path, or he's made me loving enough to have a LOT of potential mates out there and let me choose... Obviously we have the choice.

It's better that way. I get to choose, and I know that if I'm in God's will, He'll bless me/us.

You never know until you try. ;)

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
1 Chronicles 22;13

Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth...
Isaiah 54:4

Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,
Jeremiah 1:8

Stop asking broken bitter people about their relationships.
Your sample pool on CC has very little variation.

Amen.

You can only go around the mulberry bush so many times before it gets old.

I think that last part is key....but it would also be a shame to let fear keep you from something great if it came along.

translation: Everyone on CC is bitter and negative.

I'm neither broken nor bitter. However given the nature of repeating threads, I would say that the usual suspects responses are somewhat predictable. Myself Included.

And to add to the propinquity issue ( (from Latin propinquitas, "nearness") is one of the main factors leading to interpersonal attraction. E.G. being around people makes them attractive.) I would say that for someone such as myself who heavily relies on body language cues it is a necessity. Now with that said, I'm sure we would be a lot less single if took more chances and reached outside of our bubble to pursue or were willing to be pulled beyond what we know to find what we do not have. Myself Included.

I didn' mean for that to be mean to juliana, but ya....so many questions get the same responses. It starts to seem like there is real bitter root in the singles group.

DJ can i humbly say some of your responses include yourself in that too, i tend to agree with liamson theres a big fear of taking chances for fear it might go wrong or putting your self out there for rejection

It’s okay, djness, I didn’t take it that way at all!! You’re most definitely not that sort of person, so I took it in the spirit it was offered. J Like most guys, you just cut to the chase. haha Actually, I had a talk with Liamson last night and we pretty much came to that same conclusion…I’m suffering from forum burnout. J

I have been deeply touched by the people of this forum who have emailed/facebooked/PM’d me to say how much they have been encouraged by my participation in these threads. They mean a great deal to me and many prayers have gone up on their behalf.

Having been both a cop and a youth leader at my church for years, I know that sharing your faith and trying to be an encouragement/positive influence is a very heart-rewarding/expanding thing, but prolonged exposure to difficult circumstances and extreme negativity can begin to weigh on you after awhile. A little R&R is sometimes in order. J
