Job
(38:31) Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?*
(38:32) Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?
(39:9) Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?*
(39:10) Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?*
(39:11) Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?*
(39:12) Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?
(40:15) Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.*
(40:16) Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.*
(40:17) He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.*
(40:18) His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.*
(40:19) He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

(41:23) The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved. * *
As far back as I can remember I have loved reading. I think possibly it is a trait passed on to me by my grandparents. I can remember my grandmother reading Bible stories to me. Especially at bedtime. My grandfathers evenings I remember him sitting in his easy chair, mostly with his bible. But I'm pretty sure he had "Pilgrims Progress" memorized! It was his favorite. And one of my fondest memories, the times they read action stories to me. I loved the adventures of the ficticious characters from "The Sugar Creek Gang". I have never researched it, but I wouldn't be surprised if the characters were based on real life people. And some of the events could have been based on actual events from the authors life.*
Through my life I have never lost the love of reading. Though the content and topics varied through the years the love and desire to read was there. With so much material and topics available. The only restriction to what could be read was time. Unfortunatly it seems the older I got the tighter that time restriction became. Yet I was able to read so many things. And in all those things I found that they had some things in common.
*The first commonality I noticed is this. That irregardless of the topic. There was some valuable information. Unfortunatly it can surrounded by what could be called useless information. Interesting to read , but serves almost no useful purpose. So in my love of reading my brain has stored away tons of "virtually useless" information.*
Another commonality , one that probably is not recognized by most. And perhaps is nothing more than theory on my part. And that is the basis of the thought and knowledge behind all this written information. I believe that at the root of everything written the idea had to come from something. Or more precisely someone. Because all thought is compelled from an influence. Any thought traced back to it's absolute beginning is going to land you in the same place. At the beginning and the beginning of thought for man is recorded. Genesis 1:1. Before that there was nothing. Just God. I'm not going to run in circles trying to contemplate exactly what nothing is. Suffice it to say once something was created then we have something to think about.*
So God has created even thought.*
It amazes me that if looked at thourough enough all ideas for thoughts come back to the beginning. Even ones that may be considered nothing but diversion. My personal favorite diversion is called "Science Fiction". Which in reality is nothing more than science stretched beyond the current breaking point. My personal favorite in this fiction is space travel and the potential of all the areas of exploration. Not nessecarily the little green men. But they do add some intrigueing aspects to a good story.
Yet here in Job we see the beginning of thought on astrology or the study of stars. Seems to me to really study something you need to get into contact with it. In order to study a star you need contact with it, so you would need to travel to it. And that gives us space travel. Science fiction at it's best!
New one for me! what about thoughts about mythology? I have read the book of Job a couple of times. And never caught the unicorn. But there it is in black and white. And the unicorn is a staple to many mythalogical stories.*
Fire breathing dragons. The thought could easily be provoked reading Job.*
Here in Job thoughts of the facts behind fossils! Dinosaurs! One can clearly picture something along those lines from the descriptions in these chapters.*
But I must go back to the the unicorn. Something I have always thought of as being merely a mythological creature. Yet here is one in the Bible. So it must have been a real creature. Yet I cannot recall ever seeing anything about one ever actually existing. Yet it must have because here it is mentioned. So starts the beginnings of thought, speculation on posible reasons behind the missing facts of the unicorn. And in that speculation it would be easy to form hypothesises on the unknown. Wha La mythology is born.*
I am going to stick with the facts as I find them. So here we have evidence of HUGE creatures. Showing us where these "dinosaur bones" come into play.*
We have the curiosity to look at the stars enough to merit naming them. Inspireing us enough desire to want to travel to them. And proof they exist , seeing is believing.*
All thought definatly comes from God. These were just a sampling from one little section out of what I'm finding to have been a very misunderstood book personally. And this is really just a small portion of Gods thought provoking word.*
I think there are thoughts yet to be dicovered. Simply by actually reading the original words. That in rediscovering the Bible we actually will get new and better thoughts of the world around us. God gave us a curiosity to discover things. To find out for ourselves the truth of his nature in his word. And I believe even some pleasurable diversions to intrigue our minds as to why and how some things are.*
In my intrigue over a unicorn I am forced to wonder why I have heard and know as much as I do about the mythological unicorn. And never realized it was actually mentioned here in Gods word. Something that familiar and I never saw it before. How much have I missed throughout all the Bible reading. Have I really been reading or merely going through the Bible.*
A personal challenge to really read it this time through. To slow down and think about what was just read. To chase down those intriguing thoughts. Actually have fun exploring the ideas God gives us in his word.*
