How likely is it that one hit to the face is going to kill you?

A. I realize that there are pressure points on the body, that if one hits it just right, can kill, and quite possibly this may be the case

B. And, I'm not saying the teen should not be held accountable for his action. I personally believe he should be held accountable for his temper.

I'm just wondering how likely possible for this to happen.

The other thing is, if there are no safe guards to prevent incidents like these, (And that is an if), then what safeguards do you think should be implemented, and how?

Also, coaches should generally know the temperaments of their players. What do you think coaches should do when they come across teens with more aggressively violent temperaments. And coaches, I'm really curious to here your response on this.
 
There is a one punch that kills education program in Australia. I hope this player gets done for man slaughter.
 
actually punching someone in the face is extremely dangerous and can cause all sorts of problems. Hearing someone died from it isn't surprising at all.
 
I have seen video of parents getting all violent at their kids games. That some real good examples they are giving their kids....NOT!!!
 
Tragedy all around. The player likely didn't plan to kill the referee but it happened, the guilt he will have over it, is unimaginable for me. His anger really got the better of him in the moment. Obviously for the referee and the family its a huge tragedy, doing the job he loved and passing away because of it. Cant imagine what the family is feeling right now. Sports seem to have a lot of anger and violence around them. I think its rare to see a sports game about fun anymore. Sports seem to be a way to a career now a days or a chance at a college education. When you see your kid competing vs other kids for a career/college, it can be a lot different feeling then just hoping its a fun time for the kid and he makes some friends and has some good memories. I feel for a lot of these athletes who actually make it to the pro level, they spend most of there childhood chasing the dream and usually get insulted if they play bad or make a mistake or injury someone by mistake. (ive been the fan who's been angry my self). Id like to see the culture of sports change a bit, I think sports can be fun and bring good memories and a chance to make some friends, rather then maybe what it is now, as a ultra competitive environment.
 
Josh, that maybe part of the problem there. Too much pressure on kids to excel in sports, or their considered worthless.
 
He probably died of a brain hemorrhage. I think (IMHO ) the root of the problem is that people dont want reconciliation or want to resolve problems, they just want revenge. This guy was mad and wanted to get even. Perhaps coaches should give a lecture of two in effective problem solving with role playing. Also, again IMHO I think people are taking sports far too seriously. I mean really folks; its just a game. there will be others, and you will loose some of those too.
