So, I didn't sign on with the intention of plastering a long winded story about how I was saved, but as the verse goes: "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven."

Age 17 (approximately) is when I fell out of the faith and convictions I was brought up with. A year or two later, I realized I had little to no basis to drop my former beliefs, so I came around, but not full circle; I remained a rather passive Christian.

Age 19: I meet my first love, and we spend 4 years of our lives together. But no matter how hard or fast we fall for one another, our relationship is a struggle - primarily financially. The uphill battle invariably takes it's toll on both of us; she's broken and dumps me. The relationship is left somewhat open ended, with the prospect of working things out in the future. So, I stay living with her and take quarter in another bedroom.

A month goes by, and I analyze myself up and down, day in and day out, through all the heartache. I actually think that we can make things work, based off of my own revelations! Alas, she hooks up with a friend she hasn't seen in years, and I overhear them rounding first base in her bedroom on my way to feed the dog. . .

My heart is broken a second time, my confidence is shaken, and I begin to regress into my melancholy stupor. But a book my mom lends helps me in reaffirming some of my opinions on having a relationship with the Lord; this book is The Shack. I also begin attending church with my parents.

My ex continues to bring this guy around, despite my proclamation of the emotional laceration it has on me. She's unmoved by our talks, and I can't bear another day of it, so I admit defeat and move back in with my folks.

Here's where it gets good! :D

I enroll in school, I reconnect with some long lost friends and make some new ones, I grow immensely - spiritually and mentally - and I "find myself" so to speak. I finally come full circle!

My ex? I don't think it's appropriate for me to list the tragedies that befall her, but I will say life isn't good to her. Whether Murphy's Law befalls her as a proportionate response to her attitude towards me or not is beyond me. I continue to pray for her well being and happiness, regardless.

They say time heals all wounds. I think this applies to most people; however, I believe some wounds leave scars. A part of me will always love her, and thus, I continue to experience some heartache to this day - a year later. But a lot of good came out of it, and one very important lesson I learned from the pain is that: wisdom is not something that comes with age alone. It comes from your experiences, and what you decide to take away from them.

For those who took the time to read, thanks! And God bless!

My friend, this is all well, but there is a better wisdom, that God gives.

There is a Hollywood wisdom, which is really confusion, and a searching, but never able to come to the knowledge of the Truth.

All the wisdom people need is given in the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.

Jesus explains what the issues of life are, and how they are overcome.

Salvation does not come after your personal suffering. It was made available by the suffering of Jesus Christ. If his suffering is not in your body, you are suffering for nothing, and the end of that suffering is vanity.

I hope you will consider this.

May Jesus bless you.

Thanks Ramon. Well put, and I'll keep this in mind. Perhaps "restoration" would have been more apt for the title of the thread. To elucidate, had I not been subjected to the situation, I would most likely still be a rather passive Christian; not seeking a fulfilling relationship with the Lord. It was the chain of events that lead me back to Him.

Now, of all times, it is important and crucial time. This is how I refer to the Lord, ''SNATCHING'' me out of darkness.

The Spirit of God is moving very much as the time approaches for the return of Jesus Christ. Ever since the day of Pentecost till now, the Holy Spirit has been speaking, but lately he has been silenced. Some have heard him, many have not.

But these are the times of the OUTPOURING of his Spirit on ALL FLESH.

Whoever God chooses, he has already chosen, whoever is hardened in their heart, have already been judged. Now is the time to seek and find the Lord. And there is no looking back. It is onward to the cross for us.

I heard of armies arising. I heard of wars, and rumors of wars. But the army of the living God is a mighty army. His saints are his weapons, his battle ax and spear.

The Word of God is our sword. Faith is our shield. Truth is our waist guard. The gospel of Jesus Christ is our footwear. Salvation is our helmet.

And we are fully equipped for this war. Though our outward man perish, the inner man is being renewed every day.

May Jesus bless you.

1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1Pe 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1Pe 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1Pe 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1Pe 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
1Pe 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
1Pe 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
1Pe 2:14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

1Pe 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
1Pe 2:16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
1Pe 2:17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
1Pe 2:18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
1Pe 2:19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
1Pe 2:20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

1Pe 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
1Pe 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
1Pe 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

1Pe 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1Pe 2:25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
