Lets take a look in Genesis...
Genesis 17:9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
[10] This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
[11] And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
[12] And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
[13] He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
[14] And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
Ok, lets go back to verse 10 which says "...Every man child among you shall be circumcised." That is a command from God.
So, lets have a look at verse 14 "And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant."
God is saying, they were not part of the covenant if they are not circumcised. Remember, this is not "works" it is obedience to God. When we leave the Book and try to work our own way into heaven, that is then works.
They had to obey God or they were not part of the covenant.
Now, if God told us to be circumcised in the New Testament, would you do it? ...
Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
[12] Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Do you see that? "...putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:"
What is that circumcision of Christ? Here it is, "Buried with him in baptism,"
Does water baptism put off the body of the sins of the flesh? Yes it does. Lets look at what Peter said in Acts...
Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
If we are to obey God, we would have to obey the Gospel. The Gospel is the Death, Burial, Resurrection. Jesus said we CANNOT enter heaven unless we are Born Again, born of "water" and of the "Spirit"...
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
In Acts 2:38 Peter said to obey the Death, Burial, Resurrection as the means to be SAVED.
Those that deny water baptism as an essential part of the salvation processes are denying the Gospel. And, they are in rebellion.
In the Old Testament, if they were not circumcised, they were not part of the covenant. Today, we are not saved if we have not obeyed the New Testament circumcision, which is water baptism.
Here is the sum of the Death, Burial, Resurrection...
Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
[4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
[5] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
God bless!
