Well Solomon didnt take his own advice it seems
I dont really know anyone who spent their whole life in church but Im not about to judge those who havent
I dont think children make their own swine pit, sometimes their parents do dump them in it...because of THEIR parents leading all the way back to Adam and Eve so...in the end its sort of part of human nature to be weak isnt it?
We can never go through life without sinning only Jesus managed to do so for us. If we dont know Him how do we ever have the chance. But its up to someone to tell us the gospel or God to reveal Himself to us. But then its down to us to listen and take action.

however, thrown in to coomplicate matters is the adversary (Satan) to throw us off the path. Something Job never really found out cos he mistakenly assumed he was ALWAYS going to be protected. Job really was being self righteous and moany when he whined about how perfect he was.

Excepting that until he started talking, he really was perfect, none of his friends could find a single thing, nor could Job. Even God didn't drop a list of sins that caused Job to deserve what Satan wrought, though certainly God would know these things, and could have justified himself in the eyes of Job's friends, if he ever needs/ed it in the first place, for allowing Satan the leeway. Where Job suffered the loss of family and things, he never lost his hope in God, until his friends spent a day arguing with him over why he had done something wrong.

More importantly, God never lost his hope in Job, or his willingness to show up and make it right when Job did make a mistake. And when Job repented of the attitude brought, possibly in part by having to defend himself, not even a deed, just the mindset, God restored Job for all that was lost. And more. And even Job's friends were saved by Job for their sins in that matter.

You missed the part about Elihu pointing out that someone who thought he was perfect was missing the point. Job didnt have the relationship with God that he really wanted to have because though Job was righetous in everything he wasnt God Himself to know everything. It didnt have anything to do with Job, it was rather, Satan testing that relationship. Job did start to make everything about himself and how good Job was. Rather than who God was.

What amazes me is guys like Noah, who didn't even have a Bible.

Is this something you think of often?

I have to admit it is an offputting trait that I see in some people and I wonder how others can live with someone who always thinks themselves as 'better' than others or more moral

I was out with someone and we were just walking down the street in our own neighbourhood when she just started remarking on someones lawn that hadnt been mown for a while, and then to my annoyance started judging these unknown occupants on their moral laziness.

I was quite distrurbed by her flat judgements on people she DIDNT even know.
why the need to busybody into other peoples business? Maybe their lawn mower broke down, or someone has been sick or whatever. But even if they were lazy, whats the point in telling ME about it when I dont know them and cant do anything about it.

The grass is going to grow and the weeds will grow anyway, and maybe it will be a haven for wildlife and increase oxygen to the atmosphere because of increase photosynthesis! Is there something morally wrong with an uncut lawn? Was she going to knock on their door and say Im so sorry, I noticed your lawn was uncut. Would you like me to call a mower service for you? It is offending my eyes. By the way, you are lazy. I just think you should know I condemn you for not getting on to it.
I personally am happy that most of my neighbors keep their yards kept up. Because it can increase more unwanted pest. But really do not say much if they do not. Figure they are busy with life. I recently worked a job 10-12 hr shifts and 6 days a week. If my son had not kept ours up would be the same way. Best to not say anything really I agree never know the reasons.

one of my garden friends deliberately kept her lawn uncut as she said when it flowered the bees that they kept had more food. It was grown meadow style.

Everyone else would say it was messy but it was a haven for wildlife. Some people cannot handle wildlife though. They want to exterminate everything.

However we do need bees and the beneficial insects and native birds do need places to forage. While it may look messy to us, its natures way of balancing the ecosystem.

my next door neighbour has always lots of weeds but the only time we bothered them about it was when there was a big noxious one that was seeding and going into mine. Or if I was sneezing from allergies. We just wanted them to cut out the privet, but then they cut down the camellia and everything else as well on the boundary so can see right into their place.

Otherwise their yard is their business. Their son died and and its not looking that great but they did plant two fruit trees and try to make sporadic efforts to garden and look after it though.

Some people just dont have the time ...I know mine looks the way it does cos I put in the time. I had a few years when I had no work outside the home so I did a LOT of work ...outside the home in my garden lol

Sorry am going through some of my *old soul* threads.

I came across this one and recall one of my fellow Christian writer friends would occasionally be sanctimonious and it was a trait I really didn't like in her. She's now with the Lord, God rest her.

The one thing I remember that truly irked me (and I don't know if I ever done this, so would be a complete hypocrite if I did) was when she came to my house, and was being nice and offering me a ride to the group, BUT she chose to comment on my next door neighbours garden or lack of as their driveway is right next to ours, and then say they shouldn't be planting the plants they chose because they would die from too much sun. Then she went up and actually TOLD them so.

Now I'm a gardener, and unless my neighbours asked me for advice, I don't think it's my business what they plant as long as its not something I'm allergic to right next to the boundary fence. My friend was probably thinking she was doing the right thing out of concern for the plants (the ferns) but I thought it was very brazen of her to basically TELL THEM OFF for planting a plant in what she thought was the wrong place.

I love that they tried to plant anything at all. Actually during covid lockdown they went all out and got in vege boxes and had a whole miniature market garden going. I never told them a thing. They did it all themselves. Now I love my neighbours, but we don't have that kind of relationship thats particularly close. They are mormons, and thankfully not the kind of door knocking ones that plague the front doors of everyone or accost you in the street for not being Mormon as well.

I need to detox a bit after being out with the sanctimonius neighbour down the street. Please bear with me, she CANNOT help it. I don't have to say anything, she whinges all the time. It's the whole 'whinging Pom' thing.

I took her to the new Night Market up the road. First everything was fine, she did not complain about the traffic. It was only up the road after all. We went round the stalls. I stopped at any that would interest me, and you do, strike up friendly conversations with the stall holders. Even if I don't buy anything, I thank them for showing me their produce and allowing me to sample their goods on display.

Well she was a bit behind me and came across the stall with some nice sponge cakes. They looked delicious and I was even offered a sample, and was quite a big sample, so I asked my neighbour if she'd like to share my big piece, I could break it in half.

OMG she refused and went on a big rant at the stall owners asking if how they coloured their different flavoured sponges! She was like interrogating them on how they did it! I know that some people really can't eat coloured food but they looked natural to me, the chocolate ones were brown, the vanilla ones were white, and the pink ones (I recall, maybe they were some other colour or was it purple?) were strawberry. Or taro. Those are all natural colours and flavours. I mean, you don't food dye cocoa brown it is naturally that colour. I thought everyone knew this.

She was being extremely rude I thought but I didn't know what to say I kind of thanked them and moved on cos I didn't want to be seen with her.

And then as I went to other stalls she was kind of commenting on everything negatively, and even they had an entertainment show with a guy on a unicycle and doing juggling, and she was heckling him, and oh it was tiring!! Why can't people appreciate what we have instead of what we haven't? It was just whinge whinge whinge all the time, so I decided I won't take her out anywhere for a while. Or at least detox after I've spent any time with her whinging in my ear.
