So I'm pretty sure most of us here know that God is a jealous God. If you didn't know, now you know.

I have often wondered this:

If I did get "involved" with a woman would it take my focus off of God?
Would I second God to a woman that I am seeing?
Would she receive more of my attention than my Father in heaven?

If this happens to be the case, then I may just be single for the remainder of my life. I am totally okay with this if it is to prevent me from losing sight of my number one priority and most important relationship in my life.

My question to you is: Have you ever thought that God is keeping you single so that you do not give more attention to another? Or because He knows something that you don't?

What do you think? Do you have a different view?

Right now I think I'm single because God is protecting me in ways I don't see.

Great thread SKT. I've reasoning about this lately and I know I'm young, but I feel God has protected me so much.
Almost all my friends were unbelievers, (now I don't have any here because I moved) and almost all of them had a boyfriend or at least, they had one in the past. Everybody, including family, used to ask me why I didn't have a boyfriend (since now is normal to have a bf at 13). At that time, I wasn't an active christian, so my reasons for not having boyfriend were just personal preferences or thoughts, and my fading and unadmitted sense of God. I did have crushes, and some boys did like me and vice versa but I don't know, I was hesitating.

Now I feel this revelation like that God through all that time protected me in ways I couldn't see, that he mantained me single because soon I would be brought here (this country), for Him. I'm sure that if I had stayed in my hometown I would have eventually gave up to my fading faith and probably would've had an unbeliever boyfriend, and well....that wouldn't be good.
First were my unbeliever friends, then could be an unbeliever boyfriend, and keep adding things as barriers for me to Jesus. I see it like as He literally took me out of there to avoid it.

So yes I think He wanted me to stay single all that time and also probably now, because all of this helped me to be really close to Him. Now I'm just trying to be focused in Him, and actually that's pretty easy for me since I don't know anybody! And I'm glaad  I even laugh at it sometimes because I think "Wow, He literally grabbed me out of there and put me here and almost said FOCUS GIRL! I ALREADY MADE IT EASIER FOR YOU! " :)

Maybe it sounds crazy but I feel it that way, He works in such amazing ways we don't understand.....Not that I think having a bf/gf is bad, but maybe we should know our time.

It might be good for some people to be single, but if everyone stayed single the human race would cease and that's certainly not what God had in mind.

It might be right for a person to be single , as long as he or she keep the commandment of our Lord Jesus christ.I think , I am single coz God want what is best for me.

I personally think that we have to get really close to God. To stay focused in him. We are all very young and with 22, 23 we get frustrated, because this world is so messed up, where, as kayem77 mentioned, everyone has a bf/gf at least when they are 16.

But I believe God, when He says he keeps account of our desires, wishes and needs. We don't get this, but when you trust God to bring you the right person into your life, your prince, your princess, you will start to discover riches with this one person God gave you.
You too will want to glorify God through your life together. You will encourage one another, help the other grow in faith. When you marry, you shouldn't give up anything for this one person and this one person shouldn't be your happiness, shouldn't be your everything. This place is only reserved for your precious and loving Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.....(praise Him)

What we need to understand is, that we don't have to rush things and get frustrated, if we see that time passes and the right person wouldn't come. And then we start to ask ourselves.....Hmm, maybe something is wrong with me, maybe God punishes me, maybe I'm meant to be alone forever. Trust God on this. He is faithful.

I had the same thoughts, but God is enough for me. I dream of the day, when I will marry my prince, but more important than that is that I remain God's princess.

When you marry, you have to keep Jesus in focus. Jesus has to be the center of your attention. All your expectations and all your hopes and dreams shall be on him and not on your mate. With Jesus in focus, you both will push one another farther and farther to God.

Don't get discouraged. Value the time when you're single. This is your time to prepare for God to be your everything. This is your time to prepare to be a good wife/husband.

BIG LOVE

What about the survival of the human race, people?? If everyone focused on God so much that they never married and had kids, the human race would die out.
Also, not having kids is like putting a big 'dead end' sign on your family tree right next to your name.

Right Kayem, God works in mysterious ways, in ways that are above our understanding. I too feel that I have been single to keep my focus on God, to build my strength, faith, and loyalty to my LORD. This could be preparing me to be the spiritual leader of my household someday. Whatever God's plan is for me, I know that it is the best possible thing that could be because our Father's will is perfect and flawless.

EXACTLY!

I am not saying that I will ever marry or have kids. Also, Christ said in the days of tribulation woe to them that are with child:

Matthew 24:19-21
King James Version (KJV)

19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

If my familiy name ends with me, then so be it. I was not placed on this earth to keep the name of my ancestors going. I was placed here to glorify my Father's name and to spread His holy name and the gospel of His son to the nations. My name means nothing, God's name and the name of Jesus Christ means everything.
