I remember as a child, there was also a 'begger's night' the night before -
there was also a lot of mischief going on, and to me it was quite scary -
I out-grew that phase of worldliness quite early...

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
