Should I go to a pentecostal bible college if I don't believe in speaking in tongues?

I've known people whose kids went into a Bible college Christian, and came out assured that Jesus was not so important as they had previously thought. Really, it doesn't matter what YOU believe. I wish I could rep this all day long!

We have many Cemeteries, er seminaries, and Bible College's that are filled with non-believing professors....

I know a couple whose daughter who won a scholarship to very well know "Christian College" She came home for Christmas break and told her parents she was not going back......

Seems the Science department was full of Theistic evolutionists and outright evolutionists....The Professor in her Survey of New Testament class had reduced Jesus down to a Charismatic prophet, who only healed psychosomatic issues, and illusions and the hand is quicker than the eye gimmicks for other miracles and was justifiably executed for being a false prophet....her English teacher were making them read Lady Chatterley's Lover and other filth. The professors reasoning was that she was preparing them for the real world....the History professor was a socialist liberal that was closer to communism...

Which is why discernment is soooo important when choosing one. If you ask the Spirit for nothing else, ask for this.
 
I have been told by some that I fit into the pentacostal church branch when I tell them of the supernatural experiences I have with God all the time I have only been to one and like I said I liked a lot of it but all I know is that lady speaking gave me a feeling of uneasiness and sort of dread.

But I would like to try a different Pentacostal church church because while I was freaked out by the last one I saw things there I have never seen in any church before and it makes me curious
 
OP, if you do not believe in speaking in tongues and are not Pentecostal, then I suggest that you not go to that college. I am not a Pentecostal, but I am not against speaking in tongues just because I have not experienced it myself. There are strong Pentecostals who are indeed Christians and believe the major teachings of Christianity. Sadly Benny Hinn and others have caused people to look at Pentecostals in an angry and very skeptical way. Which is not fair. As always pray to the triune God for guidance and follow what the Bible says and the Holy Spirit will confirm to you the way that God wants you to go. God bless. Have a good day! :)

In defense of those who don't have real tongues, they aren't all aware..
If who the are under isn't right then they blindly and unfortunately yielded to the wrong spirit..

Oh brother I can tell you stories of Pentecostal Churches. Even a Pentecostal church where Satan himself leads the music and the preaching. Where the name ''Jesus'' is never spoken and theres a picture of a woman uterus on the wall as a ''dove''. I was outta this church like a bat out of hell. I was faster with my crutches than my mom.
On the other hand I went into a African Pentecostal church and it was just wow. Never went to a more humble, loving and accepting congregation.

In short. Dont be surprised at anything you see. You have good and bad churches and fact is, we are in the end times and ppl are falling away.
 
Satan is present in churches of all denominations unfortunately,
care needs to be taken with any church that it is a bible believing church
and functions in the way it should.

lol I dont even wanna think about that day I went to a Catholic church. That literally was scary. On that day they did communion, praying for the dead, calling dead etc. It was so much evil power that I actually had a bit of fear. War zone pure
 
It is an evil generation unconverted natural man that seeks after signs. Tongue is sign to the unbelieving Jew. It confirmed un belief(no faith, coming from the scriptures). Not for those who did believe according to the faith of Christ working in them.

Prophecy (God’s word) is for those who have been born again having believed to the salvation of their soul, they have pass from death to new spiritual life that will never end...

For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 1Co 1:22

There is no outward sign that comes by experience. That would describe the fall. God who has no form wanted Adam and Eve to believe the words he brought to their mind. Satan who has no form put his words in the mouth a of a creature as that seen . God did not want them to learn by experience called sight . He wanted them to obey His voice as walking by faith (the unseen) .

It is like one poster said in post #9 ; a whole lot of interpretation of scripture according to what one feels the spirit is doing and through the experience of the spirit.this is experience of their own spirit not the spirit of faith .

Perhaps i can give some insight on tounges based on my own experience.

Now i was very young around 12 years old, my parents had not really heard of god before, anyway one day they met an evangelist, i have no idea how they met, i just remember him coming to our house alot after that, talking about jesus and how he died for our sins etc. etc.

After a while my parents decided that they believed and we were all baptized in a river by the evangelist.

I could tell he loved god alot, he had jesus stickers on his car and he couldnt stop talking about him, he taught me the word hallelujah, he would say it alot, and call us brother and sister, i never understood why he did at the time, but he was full of love.

Anyway, im not sure how long later, but one evening he come around to our house, and after awhile he started praying with my parents, he asked me to come over, he held my hand and started praying with me. I think he asked me some stuff and asked me to repeat after him. Im not sure the exact words but i remember him asking jesus to fill me with the holy spirit.

I felt this warm, tingly thing inside, the evangelist told me to keep talking, about anything and i did, seconds later in the middle of a sentance, my tounge started to feel weird, all tingly and then the words coming out of my mouth were in a different language, not the ones i was trying to say at all. I couldnt speak in english. It went away pretty soon.

Now i can talk in tounges whenever i want, i still don't know how it works, i dont understand any of the words i am saying. I can just turn it on and off.

I cant tell you what church he was from, i didnt even know there were different types of churches back then, i thought they were all the same. I dont think he belonged to any one church, he would do missionary trips alot, and also speak at different churches.
