It's hilarious....
The Baptist minister is all upset over the Catholic Priests "Casino" night bingo parlor....
The truth is that neither one of the two denominations is for the detriment of a community. Both may disagree theologically but both have a place in a community. Both do great things for a community IMHO.
I wish that the feud between the two could be resolved.
Now this church in the video below is NOT a Baptist church....
But watch to the very end...
I find the reaction of the congregation to be absolutely disgusting and horrifying. (Shown at the very end)
This is what keeps victims from trying to tell. This has to be one of the most disgusting things I've seen going on in a church. Where the wolf is heralded and the victim is demonized. And the victim calls out the wolf's other victims...naming names. But they still herald the wolf.
I'm not sorry...but this guy needs to go to jail.

And the congregation still supports this guy with hugs and prayers while the truly innocent victim gets snubbed, ignored, and belittled by their support. No comfort or support for her. Exactly the opposite.

My understanding with these (which is only what I've read), is that it's difficult to prove (at least at first).
The guidance in the bible is not to entertain an accusation against an elder unless there are two or more witnesses (1 Tim 5:19).
This said, I have also read about plenty of cases where women brought forward an accusation, and nothing was done when there should have been some level of investigation and/or assessment of the proof/evidence. I don't believe it's a good situation where a man and woman spend time with each other without others present, because of the potential for such accusations (let alone actual abuse).

That's why the video I posted was so horrifying.
There were multiple witnesses! Including the pastor's own son!
She alluded to multiple cases of the predators abuses (especially his own daughters) and not just her own story.
But then the congregation wanted to give the predator hugs and comfort and prayers....I wanted to puke and shiver in fear. The innocent victims were ignored! The perpetrator was still heralded!

As with the situation in Catholic churches, the people who commit the crime are the guilty, and the ones who hide them. Vast majority of congregants don't know and are innocent of any wrong doing.
Yeah...they are trying once again to make something out of nothing.
I'm not exactly sure of the details...but I am doubting the list, the quality of the list, the method the list was created with, the authority used to create the list, and most especially the secrecy of the list.
SBC churches are highly accustomed to being independent. They vote on everything. (The whole congregations) this includes the dreaded and boring regular business meetings.
When a SBC church hires a pastor it is done by a committee whose job it is to wade through the literal tens of thousands of applicants to get the list narrowed down to dozens. (I'm not kidding about the volume of applicants)
Then they begin the vetting process of the dozens to get to a handful.
Then they also hire several private investigators to do a surface background check on the handful.
When they get down to three or four candidates a thorough investigation is performed on each of the candidates. This isn't a routine one...this one goes deep into each candidates background and relationships previously had and reputations in their former and present communities. This includes such things as administrative habits and preaching styles as well.
These reports then are reviewed by the pastoral search committee. If the pastor is currently preaching at another church a few members of the committee will secretly visit the various candidates churches to watch the candidate's behavior and relationships with members for themselves.
The entire congregation votes on whether to hire the guy or not. Even the associate pastors and secretaries.
Now as a side note....
I watched personally as a member of a pastoral search committee deliberately hid and removed key facts from the investigative report so that the other members of the committee wouldn't find out.
It absolutely blew up in his face. (Because the candidate was hired and cheated on his wife again) And his behavior was found out as well. Candidate and committee member are now relegated to doing "house church" all by themselves. Once important and influential members of a very large church now are unwelcome in any church. They did get away with it all for about a year...that was it.
You ever notice the protestant cult justifies themselves by blaming the catholic cult as if God is going to change his mind and all the Bible for such a pathetic excuse? Like Jonestown trying to say they're more innocent than Waco. If they were innocent let them prove it and forsake their cult.
There's a long and wide channel of difference between worldly repentance and Godly repentance.
Both require the admission of wrongdoing. But only one has the finger pointing. And if both sides of a debate are finger pointing then both sides in a "holier than thou" contest lose.

In the video I posted....I really feel for the victimized lady and her family. I just wanted to give her a hug and go all "mercenary of God" on the pastor.
And then begin in on the congregation....their behavior was incredibly appalling.
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
