Do anyone do this and what are the benifets? Is this part of the baptism in the holy spirit or what are somes takes on here?

I have a negative feeling about speaking in tongues. I know it can happen, if the Lord wills it, but it serves no purpose that I am aware of unless someone is in the room who can understand what is being said. Therefore, I tend to believe that speaking in tongues is a rare occurrence, and that there are people who think they are speaking in tongues who really aren’t.

What I've always been taught is that when speaking in tongues, the Holy Spirit is praying for you through you, if that makes sense. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit. I was always taught that it was a sign that the Holy Spirit lived within you. It's letting the Holy Spirit pray for you.

This is only my opinion for whatever it is worth.
I really believe that the Holy Spirit, must get hold of one's tongue. I don't think this necessary means speaking in a foreign language.
James 3:8
But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
James wrote this saying that no man can tame/control his tongue. Yet earlier he stated:
If any man among you seemeth to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his heart, this man's religion is vain.
James 1:26
Yet we can't tame our own tongues, so if we can't tame our tongue, yet it must be bridle, is this not something possible only through the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. To me the truest sign of one having the Holy Spirit is not speaking in an unknown tongue, but it is someone who the Holy Spirit has so on fire, that that person can hardly speak a word without witnessing for Christ.
Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Jesus speaking of the Holy Spirit stated:
"He shall glorify Me..." John 16:14
I do know, that Romans 8:26: ...but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Is a favorite verse of though who believe in Tongues, stating that when you pray in the Spirit, you speak languages you can't understand yet you are edify (I Corinthians 14:4). Another favorite verse of theirs is Jude 20: But ye beloved building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. This according to them is to prayer in tongues.
