The spirit of prophecy, is the TESTIMONY of Jesus (Gods Word made flesh). Paul said in 1 Cor 14 that if any of you think to be a spiritual man or a prophet this man shall know that WHAT PAUl WROTE TO THEM ARE THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD... This is the wonderful thing about GOD and His Testimony, His Word.... ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE TRUTH, KNOWS THE TRUTH. Spirit of Truth Spirit of prophecy/HIS WORD IS TRUTH, John17:17, ALL Holy people KNOWS THE TRUTH!
I guess if God does give the gift of TRUTH to the prophet Ezekiel, and He gives is to John, they BOTH would know it is the TRUE WORD OF GOD.... Jesus is that Word made flesh and ALL prophecies are TO TESTIFY that Jesus is the Truth the way and the life.
Look what God says about a prophet of late, and the prophets of old.... As prophecy is not from man, but from God, the TRUTH WILL ALWAYS Be WITH GOD AND THE PROPHETS, and to those HE REVEALS IT TOO.

1 Cor 14:37... If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
2 Peter 1:21... For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
1 Cor 14:32... And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
All prophecies is messages from God to help us on the WAY OF THE LORD. To identify Truth from lies... God said EVERYTHING His prophets speaks WILL transpire... butthis is not the case with false prohets...
