Who stray from Your commandments (1Cor. 7:19/1Jn 2:3-4). - Psalm 119:21, NKJV

I do not frustrate the grace of God. For if righteousness come by the law then Christ is dead in vain. Gal 2:21
Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ to the rudiments of the world, why as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances (touch not; taste not; handle not which all are to perish with the using) after the commandments and doctrines of men? These things have indeed a show of wisdom in will-worship and humility, and neglecting of the body, not in any honor to the satisfying of the flesh.
False asceticism self denial and self punishment in the pursuit of superior sanctity to the satisfaction of the flesh. Legalism and commandment keeping does nothing for Spiritual growth. You become Christ-like not by what you do or don't do but by how you approach the Lord's presence in your life.

Rom 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Galatians 5:25 - If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

1 John 2:6 - He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

True obedience to God by faith isn't legalism. Being aligned with God's will as a result of walking in the Spirit is an expression of love for Him.
