1 cup sugar
6 hibiscus tea bags
8 oz fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 two-inch piece ginger, thinly sliced

In a large saucepan, combine sugar with 4 cups water. Bring to a boil over medium-high, stirring until sugar is dissolved, about 2 minutes.

Remove pan from heat and add tea bags, strawberries and ginger. Steep about 2 hours.

Strain liquid into a pitcher and add 2 to 4 cups filtered water for desired level of sweetness.

Serve over ice and garnish with strawberries.

We used to suck on the small end of hibiscus flowers when I was a kid. Delicious!

Sooo ... made the Strawberry Hibiscus Punch recipe as written.

My daughter and I both agree that it's pretty sweet.

I generally do not add sweetener to tea when I drink (either iced or hot).

My husband and I had an agreement that the first time we prepared a new recipe, we'd make it as written so we could try it ... then make adjustments.

Next time I make this punch, I'm not going to add any sugar / sweetener. After that, if it needs a little sweetener, I'll add 1/2 c sugar and see how that goes.

I'll let y'all know whether it tastes better sweetened or unsweetened.

The ginger is a very nice touch.
