Romans 16:17-18:
"I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine
that you have been taught; avoid them. Such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites,
and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

**What causes division amongst the Christians?
Why is Christianity divisive? Why are Christians so bitterly divided against each other?

If you read Jesus' message, this is very clear.

“Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, I have come instead to bring division. From now on, a household of five will be divided—three against two and two against three. Father will square off against son and son against father; mother against daughter and daughter against mother; and mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” (Luke 12:51–53)

-Jesus knew that there would be great contention between believers and non-believers, and even within
the congregation, he taught that there would be division.

-But there were false prophets, too, in those days, just as there will be false teachers among you.
They will cleverly tell their lies about God, turning against even their Master who bought them;
but theirs will be a swift and terrible end.
(2 Peter 2:1)

Jesus is warning his followers that following Him will not be easy and that it may lead to conflicts even within single families.
