Hi, I don't know if I'm posting this in the right forum or not but I need advice, I've been thinking now for a few months, since I had my son who is now nearly 10 months old, that I'd like to help people who can't have children of their own, I just am not sure, I've prayed about it loads but I feel my feelings are taking over from it, I've been thinking for a long time what if a christian man and wife can't have children? It breaks my heart that if a couple want children but can't concieve for any reason, would it be a sin to help them, I would only be carrying the baby for them it would be their baby, as in I wouldn't use my own eggs as I would feel it would then be my child, I don't know what to do though, could anyone shed some light, advice, bible teachings on this, or simply what you think about it, every bit advice I get is welcome!
Thanks
God bless you all :-)

Well, purely my opinion here. I don't know where God would consider 'crossing the line' here. You are, essentially, having a married mans baby. Even though no intercourse took place to conceive, i just feel thats too close to 'the line' to feel comfortable. I suggest err on the side of caution and avoid it.
Also, it kind of makes me think of saying 'if God won't do it, we'll do it ourselves'. Kind of like Gods promise to give a child to Abram, when it didn't come in a time that satisfied Abram, he took matters into his own hands, and had a baby through someone else. Thousands of years later, the world is still suffering the consequences of that behavior.
Besides, there are countless children waiting for adoption already out there.

What about if they aren't my eggs, I'm not actually having some mans baby, I'm carrying a baby for a women and a man by using both, their eggs and sperm?
Thanks for the advice though I appreciate all of it
God bless :-)

Still doesn't negate the 'Abram' story and the idea that if God wants them to conceive, they will. Or that adoption is another option for them. I still see it as people stepping into God's role.

Angel, I think that what you are proposing is a very selfless and caring act. There are many women out there who are unable to concieve because of a variety of reasons but really feel like they are meant to be parents. I think that if you have prayed about it and feel God leading you in that way, then by all means, go for it. I have a concern about the emotional attachment piece that you may have to the child that you carry for that time, but if you are doing it for all the right reasons and God is with you then you can conquer those. I would check with some agencies and see if they may have some pre-counseling services before you step into the full process, just to make sure you are emotionally ready to handle all that it will entail. But yes, by all means, if you are feeling led, then look into it more. The medical field has come leaps and bounds since the bible and our culture has changed dramatically. I wouldn't put God in a box on this one. Seek him out and then found out more details. Maybe talk to another women who has gone thru the process, to get their feedback. Good luck on your journey!

Thank you so much traveler101 I have been looking into it for quite some time, am going to speak to my gp, etc, and thankfully found some women who have been surrogates, they are putting me in touch with councillors before I even think about going ahead with anything as they need to see that I am stable mentally for the outcome, I have decided not to use my own eggs, so to just be a carrier, that decision will not change! Thank you for your advice and kindness
God bless you :-)

Me and my wife have been married for 10 years now. We have been craving for a baby but to no avail. Life for us is meaningless, just work, eat, sleep and occasionally holiday. Wanting to have someone around to spice up our lives. I like your idea can we discuss the details? I can be reach at [email protected]

I feel the need to throw in my tuppence worth, I think it is a beautiful thing to do for someone and because you are doing it out of love and not for your own gain that God would be proud. I think you are going about it in the right way seeking counselling and through that and prayer God will show you if it the right path for you to take x

I have always been against surrogacy for the reasons of the woman being implanted with multiple emryos in hope of one surviving seems to draw a fine line of whether it is even ethical or not, but I did look up the biblical view of it. Here is what I found....

The Bible does not forbid the use of a surrogate parent but raises questions as to whether or not it is ethical. Marriage is designed to be between two people, and children are to be born of that union (Genesis 1:28, 2:24). To bring in a third party means that the child will have a third parent. Then there may arise difficult questions, such as will the baby know its surrogate mother? Will there be visitation? How will the child be expected to feel about the surrogate mother, and will there be jealousy? All these issues should be prayerfully considered before a Christian couple uses a surrogate. Couples who use a family member as surrogate can often head off problems before they arise if the surrogate has a strong bond with the couple and has their welfare and that of their child at heart.
The Bible says that children are a gift, not a right (Psalm 127:3). Just as God blesses some people with wealth and success, He blesses some with children and others not. Using a surrogate out of arrogant defiance of God would be a sin, but using a surrogate after prayerful consideration and a time of seeking God’s will and guidance may be a viable alternative for the childless. In all we do, we must examine our hearts and the Holy Spirit for truth. “Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Yeah there is no such thing as a third parent. Its not even a legal claim one could make. I would bring the appropriate court cases but dont really feel like sifting through the old law notes i have

In the situation where there is a third party in the producing of a child it can be looked at as a "third" parent. Whether that upholds in a court of law is not the issue I am referring to. I was strictly going by the biblical view of it.

I think you have already made your decision to help out childless Christians, and that is wonderful!

Thank you everyone for your advice! I really appreciate all of it! I am taking ALL advice into consideration! Thanks
God bless you always :-)
