In an earlier blog, I wrote about the most major difference between Christianity and Islam--which surrounds Calvary. A friend of mine suggested I explore the other differences (which I thought was a great idea) so this blog focuses on sacred texts in Christianity and Islam.

I mentioned Muslims are very agreeable when it comes the Bible. This is because they believe it to be an inspired (but corrupted) holy book. The Qur'an (written several hundred years after the death of Christ) is considered a more pure sacred text for Muslims.

Christianity teaches God's Word is without error. 2 Timothy 3:16 states "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness..." If we believe God gave us the Word of God, it stands to reason He has protected it over the years. Scripture has been proven reliable by many transcripts including the Dead Sea Scrolls. Jesus authenticated the accuracy of the Old Testament by quoting it. History and archaeological finds support Biblical accuracy. (Archaelogical discoveries have actually disproven the historical accuracy of the Qur'an.)

The more you study the Holy Bible, the more it becomes apparent it is an incredible piece of literature because it is the literal Word of God. I hope that, in time, more Muslims can agree on its superiority to the Qur'an. I pray you will be God's instrument for delivering this truth. May God bless your day!

Yes, of course we would like Muslims to believe in the Bible, and come to saving faith in Jesus Christ, but that is not going to be a "natural" or rational process. We are not going to impress a Muslim with rational arguments about why the bible is right and why the Quran is wrong. In fact, they are taught that the bible is wrong, so any attempt to show them errors in the Quran is futile. Having said that, one can always attempt to plant a seed of doubt. The historic event of Abraham attempting to sacrifice Isaac, is in fact referred to in the Quran as involving Ishmael. Now both cannot be correct. Either the bible, with the version of both the Jewish and the Christian bible being in agreement, is right, or the Quran is right - it can either be one or the other. Historically, when the authenticity of documents are disputed, it is normally the older document which is considered more reliable, so it is highly unlikely (we know, impossible) for Ishmael to have been present in this story. The bottom line, however, is prayer. We are in a spiritual battle for the souls of billions of unbelievers and we need the Holy Spirit's help to reach out to them and convince them of their need of a Saviour.

Right, I completely agree. It is a spiritual battle and one that can be won through the Holy Spirit's supernatural enabling. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2 that he did not come to them with persuasive words or human wisdom but with the testimony of God with fear and trembling. Christ has told us to testify. All we need to do is be obedient.
