1 Cor. 15
Paul teaches in this chapter that resurrection is a doctrine for all mankind. He teaches very strongly that Christ was resurrected, pointing out that both Paul himself, Sephus, James, the 12 appostles, and another 500 men had seen the resurrected Christ. Verses 14-21 are very powerful. Paul talks about what would happen if Christ was not Resurrected: 1. The apostle's teaching would be in vain, 2. Everyone's faith in Christ would be vain, 3. Those who have died believing in Christ have perished, 4. Life is miserable if it only includes having faith in Christ during this life with no resurrection.
The strong belief in the resurrection back then even lead to baptisms for the dead, for all would rise and would need to be baptized as Christ taught.
Paul teaches what a resurrected being is like and it is very inspiring and hopeful--to know that we will one day be as he describes if we hold true to Christ. He says that resurrected bodies have a glory that is greater than this Earth, a "celestial" glory. He says that they are incorrupt, and powerful. He teaches that they are so very much better than the bodies we have right now.
The doctrine of the resurrection is everywhere in the bible (mainly the New Testament) and is a doctrine that gives me hope for the future, greater faith in Christ, and a stronger commitment to do what is right.
