Laura Ingraham talked about the Romney candidacy and she spoke about how with the economy in the dump Romney should be far ahead in the polls and he is not. Given the tear in party membership over the recent foreign riots and the anti Muslim video, the republican party seems to be taking sides over just how bad Romney's gaff was. The polls are showing Romney falling further behind when every party supporter thought that Romney should be leading, yet he has never lead.

Laura basically said that IF Romney cant win this election it will tear the republicans apart. Some new party will need to come into being after a loss like this. Clearly the mainstream republicans have completely lost control over their party and the Tea Party seems incapable of actually governing a country like this.

So what do you think?

Republicans lost touch with their constituents. They went too far to the right and catered to the insane and fundamentalist of their group and ignored the moderates. Its their own fault they are self destructing as a party but praise God they are.

NO NO NO the Tea Party has attempted to drag the center well into the right side of the spectrum, Obama has been operating there already most of his proposals have come from republicans.

Huh? well the extreme liberals would have set a single payer medicare for all , if in fact the government was truly left wing as you suggest. Wall st would have basically been shut down entirely and many brokers sent to jail if the government was truly left wing. We would be talking about giving the empty homes to the homeless if the government was truly left wing.

I dont know how you figure that we are living in some socialist dream world but it just is not so. What we have is a form of oligopoly with big business controlling the government through their lobbying and election contributions.

No America is LEFT of CENTER
I'm sorry, I'm going to have to go with celestemekent on this one. The US is currently to the Right of center.

As for the political parties, I agree we need not just "a third choice" but we need to get rid of both current major parties, we need to get rid of the 2-party system, and we need to rebuild government totally from the bottom up.

Right now, we have two choices: we can either be ruled by the government, or we can be ruled by corporations. There's no democracy. It's an oligarchy of the political class, who put their own "cronies" into power. NEITHER party cares about the common people. One party's economic plan happens to be slightly more beneficial for "the common good" than the other, but it's more an accident of fate that democratic policies are good for the nation, rather than democratic leaders actually purposely trying to do things to help "Joe Six-Pack."

I thought the whole OWS would blow up into something, but Americans are still too fat, lazy, and comfortable to revolt. And I really think it is going to take a revolution to change.

I think the end of the USA would be a more accurate statement. It doesn't matter if Romney or Obama wins, they both work for the same banks and giant corporations. Look at their largest campaign contributors, payoffs and bribes. Both candidates receive the largest donations from the same companies. They don't represent the amercian people they represent the trillionaire bankers who continue to receive free tax money and the giant corporations such as General Electric who destroy the environment and pay no taxes. Good bye America, the love of money is the root of all evil. Only Jesus can save us.

Id just like to see truth told and represented for every party rather than the slanted views of the media.

The primary system is probably where this issue comes from. That is, having to be the approved candidate of your own party before that of the entire American people inclines you to put on an act for both bases. It's just a dysfunctional system which supports those who know how to play to the people. The general rule is that you play to the extreme of your party during the primaries, then to the center (or even opposite side, though still center) during the election.

As has been pointed out in many news sources, Romney helped enact a progressive health care bill and gay rights bill in Massachusetts, which doesn't align with his party's official stance. When both sides had to determine their candidate in 2008, he thought he could stay centrist and thus gain support of Democrats as well. That didn't work. If you look at his rhetoric this campaign cycle, though, you see that he has catered to the far right for the primaries then come back to center for the election, as seen in his recent interview in which he says that he would keep key parts of the health care bill.

I think the reason why Romney receives the most accusations of being a flip-flopper in the Republican party is because he is by far the most moderate when left to his own devices. That might change while as president--being influenced by a national group of republicans rather than a regional group has to have its effects--but we really won't know unless he is elected--though I'm not endorsing that avenue, in case you are concerned OR encouraged, haha.

This isn't to suggest that Democrats don't do the same thing. I think Obama's 2008 campaign could be described in a similar way--the main difference is that he talked more symbolically about making America fair as opposed to saying, "I'm going to increase welfare 'x' amount and no one is going to be hungry etc. etc. etc.." As an incumbent, though, Obama has that advantage that he can campaign towards the center for the entire race.

This country is left of center and the only reason health care didn't just go to single payer is the Christian spoke up.

Ever since George W Bush in 2000 had the stars turned upside down on the Republican Logo we've had nothing but trouble.

OLD LOGO
NEW LOGO

Not to say the Democrats are any better. Look at the upside down stars on the flag at a Hillary Rally.

And then the President wanted to get in on all the fun.

The phone is upside down
