i have always wondered why God didn't allow Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. as the name suggests, isn't it supposed to be the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil"? if they eat it's fruit, wouldn't it be great for them to know which is wrong and which is right? then why would God forbid that? is God so selfish that He wants to be the only one to know the truth behind what is good and what is bad? does He wants to be the only one to decide what is good for us and what is not?
i never understood the golden rule about that tree but i still trusted my God. for in my life, He has shown me that He indeed knows what He is doing and so i let Him be the Lord of my life.
however, i got pass this quirky quote around social media that reads,
“Girls are like apples...the best ones are at the top of the trees. The boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples that are on the ground that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think there is something wrong with them, when, in reality, they are amazing. They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree...”
it was amusing and at the same time so true. for the Christian girls who chooses to stay inside their Father's house until their Father God chooses to open the door to that right person, that quote says everything that needs to be said.
most of the time, we ask ourselves why the right man hasn't come along. is there something wrong with me? or are my standards too high? but at the end of the day, you know your Father knows more than you do and you trust Him not just with your life... but your heart as well.
when i was younger, i didn't think about love. i just live life as a Christian girl and be the silly, bubbly, charming me that everyone liked to be around with. i didn't choose love. but i guess it's also true that love will come and find you. and when it did, i was too naive to open the door of my heart to a stranger... when i should have waited for my Father to open the door instead.
after a few years and a few failed relationships, i am still the silly, bubbly, charming me that everyone liked to be around with... but this time, i choose who i wanted to be around with. this time i only hang out with people who only offers friendship. and when that friendship takes a detour, i was always the first one to come running out the door.
though there are times i was longing to be loved... i wasn't sure if i still wanted love. i am so scared of people trying to get to know me. since i was a child, i've got people who promised to stay in my life but then changed their minds in the end.
i guess, i had a taste of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. it was bitter. God was right. it wasn't good for me. it is so hard to live a life in fear. fear of failing... fear of rejection.. fear of the life ahead of you.
God was not being selfish when He asked Adam and Eve not to eat the forbidden fruit. He was trying to protect them from the hurts and pain of sin. He wanted them to live life without fear and with a child-like faith that only looks unto Him.
some people would argue that you only learn from your mistakes. yeah, that too is right. but i'd rather live life free from fear... and just fly high and enjoy the beauty of my Father's creation... and do things to fulfill what my God has created me for.
but i believe, it is not too late for me though. because my God is an expert in making something beautiful out of nothing. and one day, my God will use me to prove that too.
